You just don't want there to be extremely old Lalafells running around.

Probably would be Green mage, but not the green mage from tactics, since that one is pure buffer / debuffer, a job that will not work in this game. So will be a totally new implementation if that's the case.

Image of a green mage for reference:
Note the three leaf clover on the cape, as well as in the shape of the staff. One of Yoshi-P's infamous "hint t-shirts" featured the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, who are green.
I really can't imagine what a "Green Mage" would even do in this game, though. It would probably just borrow the name only and be a straight DPS job.
Strictly speaking, look at SMN and RDM.
Both have a Raise. Both have (some kind of) cure/heal. Both have a party buff, RDM has two (Barrier).
Take old ShB SMN. Remove the Demis/Egis and replace them with poison/miasma/toxic themed spells. Give it a 60 sec CD party buff (yes, it's a bad idea ala Trick Attack starting the meta back in 2.4, but that doesn't mean they won't do it; remember where they removed party buffs from BRD and MCH to say that Jobs shouldn't buff other party members...then turned around and immediately introduced DNC?). And make its DoTs do things like old Fester for more damage and Bane for spreading, and have something that procs randomly on DoT ticks. Throw in a dash of Saboteur from FF13.
Bam, you have a Green Mage. Debuffs the enemy (DoTs), buffs the party (60 sec "frequent" party buff). That would be FFXIV's take on Green Mage, much like how FFXIV's RDM doesn't have Cure 3 but it has Verholy.
