Alliance Raid Now iLvl Locked, Why??

Like the title says, why is the Alliance Raid roulette suddenly ilvl locked?

When you have all the expansions purchased, you can end up leveling all the way up to 90 while still being in HW or SB and still only having those alliance raids opened.

So I have a character who's only at the end of HW and just getting the Void Ark raids, but I'm being told I'm locked out of allaince raid roulette because I don't have ilvl 565 gear? When the highest alliance raid I have access to only requires 175 gear?

Does anyone know how I can remove that? Or if I can't, a way to ask SE to fix it so it goes by highest raid we have unlocked instead of level? (unless they're going to start locking levels by what content we're in)

No, I'm not trolling; yes, this is legitimately bothering me.

Because they feel like it? Because they might want to? Maybe to play on a job they're comfortable on that day? Farming Moogle tomes during the event?

Gee, it's almost like people can play the game the way they want to for any number of reasons and shouldn't be punished because of other players' actions.

It was added in this patch, in response to feedback that people deliberately reduced their item level to force themselves to get level 50 raids (which are the easiest due to battle system changes and item level growth). Once they enter the raid they equip all their gear again.

This prevents that, but obviously has caused the problem you described for new players who overlevel. One way it could be worked around is to use a different job that is at level 60.

Fixing the cheese is one thing but locking AR strictly based on iLvl is not right: they provide xp boosts of all sorts and it's pretty much impossible to not over level. They should have tied it to MSQ progress as it is impossible to unlock higher level raids before finishing an expansion and the tome gear is also locked behind MSQ. Those raids wouldn't pop anyway.

They just made that fix to Wondrous Tails so I am surprised they introduced the old problem in AR.

I haven't yet been able to see any of the changes myself... however it kinda sounds like this is their answer to people whining about gear cutters. Ie people who who under gear in duty finder to stream line the roulette.

Why are you running Alliance Roulette on a lvl 90 character that's only at the end of HW? Not like you'd be able to use the Causality/Comedy tomestones.

The iLvl change came with the new patch, to combat people lowering their iLvl to cheese their way into Crystal Tower raids. Limiting it to the highest raid would simply cause people to cheese it by not unlocking anything past the Crystal Tower raids.

I wasn't believing it would prevent CT appearing a lot, so people who do this roulette, has it changed that you get CT?

Probably will have to wait until next week to get an idea of how effective it's been since most players are probably focusing on MSQ and Myths today.

You're only able to collect the other tomes from roulette as level 90. 565 is a bit high i think, so now new level 90's are being punished?
