Edit: also we havent got back the flood/quake/tornado spells or the drown/choke/rasp spells that white mage used to have.
I grant you that we could have flood/quake/tornado spells instead of water/stone/aero, but CNJ is still GEO with the serial numbers filed off, as a class that revolves around water/earth/wind magic and also heals. The writers seem to have already consigned geomancer to the same category as onmyoji as a class that already exists in Eorzea but in a different form. Red mage was able to slot into the game without changing the game's lore or forcing rewrites of existing quests. I don't think geomancer could do the same and that's my whole point.

I don't believe that the devs will assign resources to make changes to existing parts of the game just for 1 class among 22 when they could just do anything else and the alternative would be having the SB AST quests remain and sort of be an awkward relic of the game where you work with the guy who is trying to revive GEO by training with ASTs and unlocking a whole facet of the discipline from AST while using CNJ spells in combat even after GEO is added to the game with a job stone and different mechanics.

People have been begging for it for a while but we've already been told that future jobs aren't necessarily going to be pulled from the FF roster so I don't think they need to put something in that will be awkward if they've already removed their limitations on what they can do.
