Dude, we already have Urianger and Thancred as main characters. They literally raised a daughter together, what more do you want?

Why is this crap thread still up?
Christ these forums need mods.
Aren't all the scions canonically bisexual anyway? Idk, from the designs and aesthetic I've always seen the FF series to generally be in the realms of genderfluidity and queerness, even if it's not explicit in actually saying those things but rather, just simply being those things where a "man" doesn't necessarily have to be Kenshiro, character designs vary from the broad and strong to svelte and androgynous while allowing the characters to have personalities that don't have to match the stereotypes of their looks.
Like sure I'm all for seeing more LGBTQIA+ acceptance and portrayal in media in general but, can we also appreciate that there's already a lot done both in XIV and other entries in the series that embraces that, and there'll likely be more as time goes on?
Like idk, personally I want meaningful narratives and characters who are the byproduct of their own life experiences/choices rather than just a character made by any company to signal "Yes we accept you" with no further depth than "I'm gay", while also happily censoring that stuff in Russia/UAE releases because it's really the money they care about, not your personal feelings. Not to say SE do that - evidently they didn't when they decided to not release XVI in UAE/Saudi Arabia for these exact reasons but yeah!
Just give me good, meaningful things to experience
From what I remember, not long after the games release Yoshi-P or one of the lore devs actually answered a question about this (not about the scions themselves directly though).
He basically explained that ‘sexuality’ as we understand it (i.e gay/straight/bi) doesn’t really exist as a concept in Eorzea. People just like what they like and don’t seem to categorise it as being one way or another. I think that’s probably why when we do get references to same-sex relationships (I.e Rising Vendor and her wife), it’s not treated any differently than any other relationship would be. Which, makes sense in a fantasy world where people can literally change their gender by drinking a potion lol.
For the Scions themselves, I’d imagine from a writing standpoint they’ll forever remain ‘vaguely asexual’. That is to say, the Scions wont ever have direct relationships with others; instead, they’ll leave it up to the players imaginations, so I wouldn’t imagine they’d want to categorise any of them as specifically liking one thing or the other.
Basically, "Use your head canon"
Would make sense, wouldn't it? It's all the more baffling they decided to carry Y'shtola's promise to Runar over into Endwalker then...For the Scions themselves, I’d imagine from a writing standpoint they’ll forever remain ‘vaguely asexual’. Glamour without restrictions* is long overdue!
If you think so too, help keep the thread going!

What are you talking about? The game already has an LGBTQ member in the main cast. It's you, the player. You are gay.
Can we just leave the real life out of the FANTASY games? Yeah? That would be great!
