There is no reason to swap off your main during the MSQ till said main reaches the level cap (wherever you hit it, I’ve heard it being hit as early as HW but I don’t know) so the alliance roulette will locked for the main once it gets sufficiently high enough since it doesn’t seem like it checks MSQ progress

Depending on where you are in the MSQ you can have your main outlevel the alliance roulette and either not want to level sub jobs or have no access to a sub job above 50, this is to say nothing of encouraging sub jobs in this way still biases crystal tower which they were trying to avoid

It’s just a weird situation they could easily fix by making sure the alliance roulette checks MSQ progress so it doesn’t lock the roulette too early

What are you talking about by locking the roulette? All they did was make it so a min ilvl was required depending on what level you are, so you can't strip and get lota and syrcus guaranteed.

Your main job can hit levels far above where you can reasonably attain gear for said jobs while progressing the MSQ

If you are doing the HW MSQ and you are playing a BLM who’s at level 82 where are you going to get ilvl 430 gear except off the market board for likely more money than you probably have

If you are doing the HW msq at level 82 something is very very wrong with your progression lol.

Make friends. It's a social game right? Friends are usually willing to help with gearing. Or people in novice network. Old gear is easy to make and takes little time.

Not really, the roulettes dump Xp on you and a lot of people have road to 80

Just doing a smattering of roulettes every now and then and progressing the MSQ you are going to at latest cap your main in SB

This change is completely forgetting people on the Road to 80 servers. It's very possible to be far above the MSQ and thus not have access to gear appropriate to the level that you're at. Like Snow said, you'd have to buy something instead of being able to get the gear from in-game means and if you're fresh on Dynamis you may not be rolling in riches just yet. Hopefully they can look at adding an MSQ qualifier.

Nothing wrong with their progression, ask anyone who plays on Dynamis, you sneeze, and you go up 5 levels.

There's some slight workarounds at least up to Lv.60 because players can farm the old PvP gear from Wolf Marks that still contain stat attributes. Its what I used when leveling alts but keeping the MSQ at a slow pace.

Even then, I keep telling that most players who get into the game is mostly for the story as its the biggest selling point. Rarely do the community recommend the game for the dungeons, trials or raids; they just get passing mentions because everyone knows the gameplay for this game is too slow unlike other MMOs that have better tab targeting systems or have more action oriented combat. Or are you going to tell me I'm wrong?

So most people just binge the msq.

Or just ask for help. It's a social game. Novice network is a thing. People generally don't mind helping sprouts out. Old gear is like, 2 - 3 buttons to hq and maybe 10 minutes of gathering.

There's also that. I know free trial people have limited communication but the most likely scenario is that many of them come in from the recommendation of friends. Ive done this with every friend I managed to get into the game and we've made sure to donate appropriate level gear when they need it during their msq journey.

I do wish they would at least introduce lv.70-90 PvP gear that give you stats so players can have an alternate way of gearing progression. Because honestly I had a lot of fun working on PvP rewards on my early game alts and still upgrade their jobs up to lv.60 with those old sets.
