I don't watch Asmongold frequently, but I've flipped through 8 hour streams of him playing Diablo IV endgame while actively hating on the game and his entire chat being confused about why he's even playing it. He still makes content about it right now. It's pretty blatantly obvious Blizzard locked him into something and he had to play it. He literally made videos about quitting it and then unironically kept playing (miserably) with zero explanation. The explanation is that Asmon, like many popular streamers, wants to be perceived as this individual who does whatever, when they are paid or otherwise supplemented by these companies and simply not disclosing it.
To go even further, this take that he quit due to comments is silly. So Asmon gives zero f's about everything and is such an individual, yet can't handle comments and reddit posts? That doesn't even make any sense. It sounds like you've been fooled by Asmon, to be quite honest.
He plays whatever gets him more views at the time. And as someone else said, twitch forces you to disclaim when you're sponsored.
