Tons of streamers were playing all around the time Asmon did. It was a huge PR blitz for EW. And it worked BTW-- but all those streamers went right back to Dragonflight and Diablo IV at the same times. They're just promo hoppers.
I think Asmon liked the game but his audience didn't and trolled him into stopping. Plus I think other lucrative deals were upcoming so he could afford to drop it. So it's both.
And yes he said the community is crazy blah blah blah...again don't be naive. Yes, the trolling is a factor but ultimately money talks.
