Gw2 has a BIG "white knighting" issue, like, people who says there's toxic positivity here have seen nothing, but even then the community as a whole is overall nicer. I got cash shop items from strangers just because they felt like it, people helps each other complete jumping puzzles, you can use pretty much any active map as an open chatroom, and if you die close to someone you can bet you'll be revived.
I mean, I was quite young when I met my wife there, she was a guildie, and I have always been socially awkward and prefer solo experiences. I asked for advice in a friggin Shout chat, in a map I was currently leveling in, and not only I got encouraged, I got legit advice and I finally decided to ask her out, and we've been married for almost a decade now.
The only reason why XIV gets labeled as friendly is because the random "kawaii uwu" conversations people have in Limsa, and because we have a big LGBTQ+ community. Those are surface level qualifiers that some journo will notice and say "ah yes they are friendly!". Like, have you ever tried having a random, non-meme-uwu conversation with someone in this game? Heck, even if you try your own he he funny convo chances are you'll be ignored unless you're part of a FC.
