(Looks at both quote portraits) Did you quote your alt? Anywho-...I don't blame the guy for doing so because it was just so bizarre. He made the comparison that these types of FFXIV viewers were similar to an overly attached girlfriend/boyfriend in constant need of attention and validation, and if they didn't get that validation and assurance then they would flip out. And you know what? I don't entirely disagree with his analogy.
I mean, yeah? That part right there just so accurately and succinctly described the main ffxiv reddit. And I'm almost so sure that's where majority of these viewers are active and congregate to. FFS, a mod at the main reddit had to post a notice in that thread complaining about the Alpha bike mount and basically telling the community there to grow the F up and stop making hundreds of reports against people mildly critical about the game... To be fair, I'll never know the metrics here but I highly doubt they're as bad.
They like to poke fun at these official forums and point out all the issues with posters, attitudes, and (lack of) moderation here, and to be fair, a good bit of it it warranted, but they also need to take a hard look at themselves and see the echo chamber of fanatical praise and aggressive positivity that's almost enforced over there.
Still don't really know or care about Asmon; don't bother watching any streamers (this isn't an interesting enough game to watch be played, imo), but it puzzles me why some people are so invested in what certain individuals say or think about a game that they feel the need to make threads about it in seemingly "gotcha" attempts. Granted, I know it's almost always disingenuous intentions.
he stopped playing because no matter what else he was doing people bugged him to continue playing xiv
the community lives to harass streamers into playing the msq so they can relive vicariously since you will never experience the same emotions of going thru it the first time again and once the streamer has finished the msq they toss em in the trash and move onto the next streamer playing through the msq

All I can say is ... Parasocial is weird, and it get weirder.he stopped playing because no matter what else he was doing people bugged him to continue playing xiv

Come to think about it this behavior isn't exactly news. Obsessive fans have been a thing in the pop culture for a long time with idols and celebrities. Streamers in a way is just a new type, internet celebrity, so it's understandable they attract similar crow. The difference is, the old IRL obsessive fans had to spend the time and effort to track down, stalk, then harras their subject of affection and maybe get a restrained order sic on them. Whether just like with everything else in the internet age, they just have to log in and be obsessive from the comfort of their chair.
In this case I think it's also a double whammy for parasocial people. So they like the game, and they like these streamers, so they want the streamers to like the game too just like them, then throw a fit when it doesn't work out. Kinda remind me of people playing match maker in their own wedding. The bride/groom has this brilliant idea of playing match maker between their 2 friends with the bridemaids and groommen because they just look so good together so it'll definitely work out, right? Then things get ackward because they insist on being pushy and not taking the hint things not panning out, then destroy their own special day and of course proceed on blaming everyone else.
Shout out to that one streamer who realized this and stalled so hard that people got sick of him and dropped his stream and then he also got accused of sexual assault or something.he stopped playing because no matter what else he was doing people bugged him to continue playing xiv
