    [Feedback] Roulette/Randomized Arenas in Casual Crystalline Conflict

    So with the new CC arena coming out, it would be nice to have more variety in the casual play queue. Instead of having a map play consistently for 1h+, why not randomize the appearance of the maps? Like roulette, it will pick a random map for that match instead of the set one.

    It would be more fun as I've noticed people not queuing up during a particular map window which is a bit of a shame. And if you only play during a small time frame, chances are you're stuck with just 1 map during your game session

    I'd like to hear people's thoughts on this, thanks

    I think having a rotation tries to allow people to avoid ranked matches on maps that either they aren't good at or their job is at some kind of disadvantage at.

    While I don't think 99% of players are at the level where that kind of thing matters the most in affecting the outcome (myself included), I think the benefits it offers splits the difference so that players can safely avoid certain maps they just plain don't enjoy without completely removing them from the game.

    Even in casual play, it's good to have solid blocks to let people practice. I did this myself after getting stomped in my first ranked match right when castletown launched.

    It's unfortunate that the current system might negatively affect someone's only window of time to play, but that's why they're staggered with what arena shows up at which time slot.

    I do think I'd enjoy some aspects of random maps because I'm always a little disappointed when it goes from castletown to Palaistra because it feels less fun; I'm sure others have felt similarly in reverse.

    Maybe opening up timeslots where it's random for that whole 90 minute period?

    I never understood why this wasn't a thing from the get go. Players who want to play specific maps only can form a custom match and play whatever map they like for as long as they want. The caveat should be that undersized party for custom matches needs to be possible.

    I don't feel strongly one way or another. I like being able to pick my job in accordance to the map, but that's also a privilege and luxury that has no real justification behind, just personal comfort.

    Still on the other hand, a lot of other multiplayer games have a veto system where players can have a limited amount of vetos on maps they hate or don't want to play.

    But there is one undeniable big plus for a random map, being that you don't spend 1:30 hour on the same map, which gets tiring and old very fast.

    Undersized party for custom matches seems like a very smart idea. Not only would it allow people to actually bridge the gap between from fighting striking dummies/dueling, it would allow people to learn how the game mode actually works in detail with things like 'more people on the Crystal at the checkpoint means it completes quicker' or 'respawn timer for health pickups' in an environment where they're not as pressured.

    Maybe they choose not to do this because it might slow the queues down to not force anyone interested in trying maps or the mode into the queue, or (hopefully unlikely) that extra instances of CC running to host 2v2 matches or whatever would cause too much extra strain on the servers potentially.

    I wonder what happens if we open CC matches for half the playerbase versus the other half in 1v1s and never finish the rounds because you can't time out CC if you hit overtime? Maybe they secretly have 60 minute duty timers, too.

    I think maps should be random for every match. Currently, you have maps that take longer to pop because a lot of people hate it, like C9. Would be way better if people couldn't just dodge maps.

    Oh, when l saw "roulette" l thought you meant a daily roulette like frontline. Well, yeah, it should be randomized. I remember Back then when l played warcraft, when you queue for battleground, you actually get to choose 2 maps to exclude. That would be most ideal if a roulette exists. For Now, people can just go do something else to enforce their exclusion anyway as you stated.

    just bumping this as with the new map rotation, it's really hard to try out new maps if you don't happen to play at the specific time frame within those 9h...

    The middle way would be to reduce the rotation time. Maybe just 30-45min.

    I don't think it is good to have forced map rotation for Team Ranked, as you have to be proficient on any map, no matter what your team is good for. This could, if Team Ranked would be active in this game, result in some teams avoiding maps, because their team can play the best on 1 map only. While in tournaments they have to play all maps anyway, and absolutely fail then. Wouldn't be fair to teams that perform on all other maps better than them.

    But as Team Ranked, isn't very active, I don't think it matters that much.
