Since you seem to be more of a story person that anything. May I recommend trying out Tales of the Abyss for the PS2. Its a hefty game with loads of extra content and its story, world and characters are much better than what most rpg games have pumped out lately imoI'd love to play FFXIV. That's why I go to the forums I guess, in the hopes that the game will finally stop going in the wrong direction and actually compete for my time again instead of releasing dead on arrival content and turning away from the writing and elements I used to enjoy in it.
Sadly these days I cannot find anything fun or worth doing. It's especially frustrating when (usually newer) players tell me I'm supposedly burnt out or to just take a break...I can't burn out of a game that I'm not able to play because of the lack of worthwhile content. I've been on break pretty much the whole expansion.
I can't believe the mmorpg that gave me stuff like the Ivalice Raids and Shadowbringers storyline has become a ghost of it's former self. FFXIV deserved better.
Ok, Im gonna have to have you provide some sauce for that rumor.Isn't it interesting how lately in every other live letter and interview, Yoshi P will announce or reveal something and justify it with "it was creating too much stress so we're dialing back"?
Once or twice seems fine, but it's been 2 years of "it is too much stress so we're dialing back".
With rumors of a significant chunk of their team quitting in protest of the vision of the game, one cannot help but wonder if no one there is actually interested in making a game anymore.
They're all going to leave, all the devs are gone except Yoshi P, game is now in maintenance mode and in fact I went to Limsa and there's only 40 people instead of 41, the game truly has died
I guess it is time to say good bye to this great game
/s

I play the game!lotsa fun revisiting the story and exploring side content. I finally got around to doing allied tribal quests. So far I have just ARR and HW allied tribal quests completed
I love the men in this game
I finally return to the game! Current goal: getting all my jobs to 90

I check out from boredom, eventually forget just how boring it is, resub after a break, do some roulettes, remember how bland the gameplay is, try to craft/ gather and play at earning gil, remember the MB is overrun with bots, think about decorating, remember that it'll wind up taken off me anyway, browse through PF to see if there's anything that sounds vaguely fun to join, get met with fifteen ads for brothels and gil selling, remember then why I quit, get mad I paid actual money for this again, leave, and then rinse and repeat several weeks later. If you could call that "playing." Which I don't think you could.
8 years is a tough habit to break I guess, lol.
Edit: Oh, I do actually have a minor excuse this time, though. The Phoenix fight from the Bahamut raids was one of my favourites of the entire game, so I felt compelled to grab the mount from the Rising Event before it disappeared. Nostalgia is a powerful thing!
