    I really, really, really want to believe Yoshida and his team at least know that people are upset with the current state of job design, I hate being cynical so much because it's just not helpful and contributes nothing, but it's incredibly difficult to have any kind of faith in them at this point when all of my worst fears about jobs have manifested and they absolutely refuse to disclose anything to us outside of some one-off vague sentences.

    The only hope I have is that PvP has shown that there's at least someone in CBU3 that understands the potential this game's job system has.

    On one hand, I think there's too much cynicism regarding the belief that FFXIV is now perpetually locked into the Shadowbringers/Endwalker model and will never deviate from that. That to me has always felt very unrealistically pessimistic. I do think the future will see new more dynamic things of some kind, whether that be new additions to the system, revamping how certain things work like potentially limit breaks as an example, etc. That's par for the course for MMOs in the long term. That doesn't necessarily mean those things will be better than what we have, or worse. As Aravell said, they can learn from their mistakes, double down on them, or stay the same, but also I would say there's a fourth option of horizontal change--things that are different but relatively the same. Any of those is possible, and I don't think 'stay the same' is something that can last forever.

    On the other hand, I've lost a lot of faith in how they seem to address changes. There seems to be this aggressive desire to sand the game down to the smoothest surface possible--an obsession with making the most frictionless environment. And the thing about that is you eventually run out of surface area to sand. It's like trying to sharpen the perfect pencil to the point where you have no pencil left to sharpen. Going into Endwalker, I couldn't imagine how they could make things even more simple, and yet somehow they accomplished that. So I have to assume things can continue to become more and more simple than what my understanding of game design is capable of perceiving. Like, I never would have imagined they'd double the size of support AOEs to be as big as they are now.

    While I would prefer not to be cynical, I've seen my favourite playstyles be consistently destroyed to the point that I don't have any faith in the dev team to make anything engaging anymore. I used to main MCH, SMN and SCH in HW.

    In SB, MCH was destroyed and remade with a tacked-on heat mechanic, SMN lost all MP management and some resource management along with being pushed to become more burst-oriented and SCH got some spells gutted.

    In ShB, MCH was completely burned down and remade into something it wasn't before, SMN doubled-down on burst-oriented gameplay and SCH was further gutted.

    In EW, MCH got 1 singular GCD which did not evolve the job in any way, SMN was completely torn down and remade into something shallow and SCH saw no evolution whatsoever.

    It's really hard to be positive when you see how they keep changing jobs to no longer appeal to those who enjoyed it before.

    In regards to Scholar, of which I was a career Scholar from day 1 ARR to the last day of SB, I really don’t feel that Scholar has ever directly improved since HW. I liked how Miasma II worked in SB in contrast to what it was before—an AOE only button. Ruin II became somewhat vestigial at that point, though one could argue it was the more MP efficient alternative to Miasma II at the cost of damage, or the ranged option if melee range wasn’t available. I didn’t mind losing Aero, but I felt culling Bio as a separate spell to Bio II was unnecessary. Though long term I understand wanting to cut back on the number of different DOTs for the sake of buff/debuff limitations, but I never would’ve thought Miasma and Shadowflare were ever leave Scholar’s hotbar. Those were what I considered to be essential parts of Scholar’s identity. Maybe their effects could change over time, but that was an essential aspect to what made Scholar Scholar.

    FFXIV was all around the MSQ and the conflict between Asian etc, now that there is nothing of it DawnTrail has nothing to offer, I don't think we are going to have massive new open world formula, new stats or gameplay change and so on.

    It's really interesting to see how divided the PLD survey is in the elaboration section. Some say the rework is a great direction for PLD and others seem to absolutely hate it.

    Since this and the other survey were recently brought up again in the other thread, I wanted to bump this in case anyone who hasn't seen it would like to add their own feedback.

    Sage has failed to live up to the fantasy of a sci-fi DPS healer. Please change this for 8.0. Make Sage fast, exciting, and aggressive. It should feel like a healer that plays like a DPS. Empower the aspects of Sage's unique healing mechanics: Kardia and Eukrasia to give its healing playstyle more identity.

    More focus on Beastmaster.

    I am not super excited for it but even with having preordered it I did not even know it was coming. Seems to be a footnote that's almost hidden which... I would like to know what I am getting XD. Kinda a nice surprise to get a third class even if it's limited though!

    Beastmaster isn't releasing during 7.0 to my knowledge, so we aren't going to see anything for it, not until before the patch where it will be added. Limited Jobs aren't real jobs and don't get new content upon the release of a new expansion. They're considered side content.
