Need Help With Advanced Job :(

So here is my situation,

I am a returning player, coming back from after a long time and i am thoroughly enjoying the changes they have made to the game! However I am stuck between two choices, DRG and BLM they are both fun, and I have a blast playing them both, but as with any game I want to make sure the job I pick will be able to not be excluded from groups and what not, I do plan to level them both and put time into both of them, I just would really like to know other players who have these jobs experiences and maybe suggestions that might give me a better idea which one to take to 50 first.

And I know to play what is fun, they are both fun, I just want to know which might be beneficial to get 50 first.

The honest truth is that people ask for BLMs for EVERYTHING. Sure, people can argue the fun playstyles of other jobs, and situations where the other jobs are better, but if you're looking for what will get you accepted into events? Black mage.

I suggest u do both, since each has their own advantages. BLM clearly rule the table as AoE DD, while DRG can deal huge dmg and best avoid using jumps.

In fact, do all job class if u can. Some have their own advantages to certain situation. Might wanna hold on capping WAR/MRD since some ppl may neglect doing other class after many request of WAR tank.

This, my friend, depends entirely on your style.
Black Mage is a Disciple of Magic, so he fights at range, uses MP and deals gigantic burst damage both to single target and to group. There is only one job that can deal more damage to a single target in the same amount of time, Monk, and it requires a very skilled player.
Dragoon is a Disciple of War, fighting in melee range and requiring a lot of positioning shenanigans. However, it is an excellent DD (if a bit frail), in fact it can give Monk a run for it's money, but as a Disciple of War requires TP (DRG is an infinite wellspring of endless TP anyway) and positioning, making it a far more sustainable DD in relation to Black Mage but ALSO requires considerably more skill.

I will give you the sad news that you will need to gain a fair few levels in Archer to realize either of the those jobs to their full potential (mostly due to Quelling Strike and Chameleon which respectively reduce your attack's enmity for one move and reduces your current enmity), but both jobs also have their own enmity dumps (Freeze, a damage+negative enmity spell and Evasive Jump, that moves you backwards and reduces enmity).

Note: I play a Dragoon is pretty much any high-level content I go to, btw

I've been playing BLM at 50 since shortly after job release.

I still don't have Chameleon.

Somehow people still haven't noticed.

OP, do you browse the FFXIV reddit by any chance?

Hey guys I appreciate all the help =D Im still playing both (switching between them and levelling at the same time annoying my static friends) I still havnt made a decision which to get to 50 first but im sure ill go with whatever my static group needs more.

Oh. I definitely do not have Archer at a level any higher than to get Quelling Strike, and even then 90% of the time i'm not using it since i'm overflowing with TP on my Dragoon. Hell even Elusive Jump I use rarely, but that'd because i'm not as much of a killing machine as i'd like to be

Not to say they are fully nescessary, I guess? It fully depends on the sum of the capacities of the party and how much of a boss you are at dealing damage. (also back when Lancer's abilities had -accuracy Hawk's Eye was pretty useful)
