It has been notorious for all but old players that are not in the very long "honeymoon phase" with the game, or the few, yet very vocal: white knights. That the game is recieving less and less as the time passes.

What kind of less, we don't exactly know.
But in basically all game content, we have either recived what is to be expected of a subscription based game, or less.

Be this fault of the CBU3 dedicating their time to now multiple projects. Be this just overall tiredness on this project, lack of new faces, just stagnation or lack of resources. The result seems to be the same:

Endwalker is a very brief, feature-less expansion.
Compared to Shadowbringers is basically just a new patch series rather than a expansion.
Compared to Stormblood the content is just less and lacking.
Compared to Heavensward lacks theming, atmosphere, drive, cohesion.
Compared to A Realm Reborn lacks growth. Im not seeing the over 10 years experience being put to use into anything interesting that has not been already done either in XIV or the genre in general.

Dawntrail will get an engine update, needed since launch basically for the PC audience.

And sactuary island... yay...
