Between that bizarre comment about "young people" and another about being a "former mmorpg player" no wonder so many of these decisions feel so out of touch.

This is the first time I’ve felt actual dread about the direction of the game, and I was there for all of 1.0 so that’s saying something. I’m seriously considering for the first time just canceling my sub completely (only thing that’s been keeping me was my large house that took me 2-3 years to attain)
honestly. osrs is a fine alternitive. youll never run out of things to doHo boy. This doesn't look good for the future.
We've told it many times, for month... There is 2 new thread on the subject per day... It's about having long running content available, objectives on the long term, and yet they achieved to still miss that.
The "Young people" part made me smile. I'm pretty sure the average player age in mmo is pretty high. I hate that trend that consist of let's do things a way it will bring young audience/more casual audience in and give nothing to do for the mmo crowd, which is the historic heart of the playerbase. God they're lucky the correct alternatives don't really exist in that market...
their focus on completion rate is baffling. I don't know what to add.
same. but now im genuinly thinking that its over.. theyll never change.. theyll never fix the game. i really feel this now.. 7.0 will be the literal decicive moment for this gameThis is the first time I’ve felt actual dread about the direction of the game, and I was there for all of 1.0 so that’s saying something. I think it's a bit odd that he seems to believe that 'younger gamers' don't have the attention span to play FFXIV. The game demands a lot of attention and commitment to make it through the MSQ's since practically every bit of content in the game is locked behind that. I have a strong hunch that the same crowd who would prefer the instant gratification of jumping right into a match in Fortnite or Call of Duty are highly unlikely to ever pick up this game in vast numbers.
It does reveal how overly concerned Yoshi-P is with people who do not currently play the game as opposed to those who actually do, I suppose.
At this point, I'd suggest at least flexing your sub to every other month. That way you can refresh the timer and maybe (strong maybe given the sparse updates) let some content build up. If it wasn't for wanting to finish up TOP, eventually, I'd be doing that myself. This is the first time I’ve felt actual dread about the direction of the game, and I was there for all of 1.0 so that’s saying something. If Dawntrail doesn't impress, I may just let the house go and unsub on a more long term basis. Raiding is pretty much the main thing keeping me invested nowadays.

Personally, I think the relic grind was too much but now it's too little. I think I'd prefer ARR with it's own fight at the end but overall the grind should be less tedious.
Give me an exploratory zone where I can chip away at it and make me fight a (4/8 man?) boss at the end for the final material so it means something. Doesn't have to be a super hard boss. Just don't make it mindless like it is now. And don't make it where you can farm stuff outside of that content. That's just counter-productive, honestly.

That’s the thing, deep down we all know exactly what 7.0 will be, yet we all keep internally coping that it will be better. The thing is I always had hope they would pick up on bad direction and then I remember with XI the introduction of Abyssea and then later in with SoA the new weapons making relics pretty irrelevant. It basically killed off a majority of the long-standing population and now I feel like I’m witnessing that happen with XIV now. Most of my friends are playing something else and don’t plan on coming back or said if 7.0 is the same then they are done for good, sure you will see people come back when it launches the question is what’s going to happen in between patches. If the trend of EW patches continues then I think then some people will finally wake up to the state of the game, doubtful though.
Instead of caring about long-time veterans, he still prioritizes young players. New player influx shouldn't be the main issue here. It's the playerbase that grew up with the game, which is decreasing obviously.I think it's a bit odd that he seems to believe that 'younger gamers' don't have the attention span to play FFXIV.
