    Thoughts on sprint being 30 seconds instead of 60 outside of PvE/PvP?

    I was thinking during the open world would it be better to have sprint on a 30 second cooldown? Then only have it as 60 when your inside an instance, such as Dungeons, Trials, Raids and PvP instances? I can't think of any reason why sprint would be considered OP out in the open world?

    I don't think it would matter that much in the open world unless we're talking strictly before new players get their company chocobo.

    I would like to see sprint be a toggle inside of main cities, however.

    Sprint really should just be toggle on/off until the player does anything else (interact/get attacked/etc).

    Even in duties it wouldn't be a problem being on forever out of battles. It isn't an issue in PvP. It could give a new buff and an expire time once you enter a battle.

    Sprint used to have a 30 second cooldown and last up to 20 seconds (at the expense of all your current TP bar, Disciples of War be damned), so the world, duties and bosses encounters were designed with that in mind.

    From StB on we got its current state to give melee and tanks an easier time, and now we could reliably assume players were all able to sprint during encounters.

    Yes, they should just make it last longer, around Aetheryte areas especially, but they'd probably change its current combat/non combat behavior as players have already been abusing that you can get 20 seconds of sprint in dungeons if you initiate it before combat since 4.0. Extending that to a full minute might exacerbate a skill imbalance between players that do that and ones that don't within duty roulettes, which might result in more friction among random players in a group.

    I'm not saying that that's how it is, just what I'd guess they'd do if they did change Sprint; they seem to like to make changes to minimize player skill expression in ways that gives them advantages over each other that might not be obvious to everyone.

    Plus, it'd make Peloton even more worthless. Maybe they could just make Peloton function like SCH's Expedient.

    I think, considering the existence of Hermes Shoes and Strider Boots, the dev's wouldn't change the duration of sprint.

    I'm all for changing the duration for sprinting (or making it a toggle) when you're not in a duty or combat though. The above shoes and boots' effect should be removed entirely, but...removing the effect seems like the wrong move. So maybe replace it with something else like making sprint faster?
