Why Are There Still Two Search Functions In-Game?

Greetings!

Was wondering if could get a dev. response as to why there are still two search functions in the game after the most recent implementation of the newer search function.

The one located under the "Party" section of the U.I. in now antiquated considering the one located in the "Search" section of the U.I. does everything the old one under the "Party" section does, and more.

I really don't see the logic of keeping the old search function at all. When is it planned on being removed from game?

Thats exactly what i was wondering to. I have played alot of mmo's actually where dev's will making something new to replace something. and they just leave it in the game for as long as the game is alive. No one will ever use it again it will just be sitting there. Although i do use it when i am in a party just to see the members of my party but thats it. its not for searching thats for sure.

Wondering the same thing as well...it confused me at first. >.< They should get rid of the old search as it is pointless now.

Get rid of old search and merge the new Search menu into the current party menu?

They are 2 different things.

- Search function let you look for people (Online, LFP, ecc.) and of course invite them, tell them, and so on.
- Party is a very unlucky system, useful in its principles but bad implemented, and it let you open a recruitment to form a party, so that people who are LFP can directly join you. (It's a sort of reversed auto-group function)

I can't speak for all servers, but the situation in Cornelia (at least, during JP primetime and for the JP population) is quite the opposite... it is in fact the party search function that is used more often compared to that of the player search function in order to form parties.

How it works:

Party leader sets up what s/he wants for party.
Shout in Ul'dah, advertising what the party is for.
Wait for people to join.
Party.

Moogle/Ifrit parties formed through this method fills up extremely fast.

It's probably the reason why the NA population have it so difficult in Cornelia... they are still too used to the FFXI 'invite' based parting system and are not aware of how parties are formed in FFXIV.

FFXI's party system was way better. FFXIV's system is just awful.

JP event parties gets formed through party search before the leader has a chance to shout in town on Gungnir at prime time.

I personally do a party search every 30 min or so to see if anything is going on. I see NO english parties formed this way...

I use the party thing for to see what jobs are in party

i am still to understand how a works that party search function.
im at lvl 19 and im sure theres some dungeon or other thing to do. but i cant manage to find anything with the function
