I really don't expect them to do anything more with SMN at this point other than to add new powers for the next level cap. It's honestly pretty well balanced for what it really is and does. I personally would probably like a little more complexity but that comes from having run the old SMN from it's 1st edition which was much more complicated than even the Stormblood version. Not necessarily because the current version sucks or anything. It really is a Final Fantasy SMN with a clear Identity now, that is right on the mark.
But there is one thing I might want, that would be to make the actual Summons more transparent during the Summon Portion. I personally think they are absolutely cool... but they do block the view for everyone else in Dungeons and Raids. So you kinda have to keep your distance so as not to hose up everyone else. They kinda blot out the sun at times. Small only works for you not everyone else. They're only there for a short time, but with as fast paced as some of the mechanics are getting they can get in the way.
One thing that helps with this is changing the summon size yourself (even if you're not the SMN), since it's client based. But there's another thing that would help this immensely and is glamouring them into their pre-90 iterations (egis or carbuncles) - I wish they would offer this possibility with the /petglamour command. But there is one thing I might want, that would be to make the actual Summons more transparent during the Summon Portion. Revert to Stormblood with pet ghosting fixes.

I think we should just disappear like other FF games and just control the summon ourselves, don't even need to change the rotation.

You cannot fix demisummoning. Ghosting is a result of the any pet entity that has a hard cutoff, and that is exactly what demisummoning does. It summons and then kills a new pet, causing a hard cutoff. You can still ghost gem summons because the pet has to spawn in, then attack, then despawn at a specific time. Even if carbuncle literally did not exist, you can still easily ghost an ability from the demi/gem summons because of the absurd animation delay on spawn in and their refusal to retarget if something dies (such as an add) before the ability/auto goes off.
You cannot seperate ghosting from the demisummon mechanic. It is an in-built feature, and somehow SquareEnix still hasn't figured that out yet.
I know it's a problem with Demis because they stick around for a while... but I wonder if it wouldn't be better to just convert the gemstone summons into animations rather than pet entity replacements? At the very least the carby would stick around for longer and the Radiant Aegis would be less unreliable. You cannot fix demisummoning.
