FF14 should learn from Palia to how....

To make casual cozy content. Like for real, Palia is basically what sanctuary should have been. A place where a island need help to expanded. While expanding, you be meeting villagers who have different quirks and personalities. You can growth friendship via giving items or just talk to them daily, more the friendship is higher the more you know about this person via sidequest. At the end of max lvl friendship you something from them, like personal glamour piece or personal housing piece. Having a different leveling system on Sanctuary. Community interaction, such as Disciplines of the Land FATES like gathering amount of items to random villager(no worry it should have 5 mins stanby to give it to npc so ppl wont feel rushed.)or take object, do mini game with it and Disciplines of the Hand Recipes Raids (AKA Palia Cakes) by doing those activities you gain a new in game currency. This currency can be use to help villagers to expand they're houses, goals for the island. After helping them, they'll give you glams to get whenever you want such as hairstyle, gear and mount to thanking you expanded the island. And they give you a plot to interact for those dailies activities to gain the new currency (social social anxiety player),items for villagers or items for raid recipes.

That would be cool content, but we have current Sanctuary.

What y'all think if they decide to do a somewhat Palia ish content would you play it?

For me I would play it.

Some months ago i said we should be able to marry or create bonds with NPCs.
In FFXIV we have Custom Deliveries for that, way different from Lost Ark, Black Desert, Stardew Valley and Palia.
They - ffxiv devs - may have a) technical limitations, b) laziness or c) lack of vision

From business perspective, isn't worth it. They could hurt RP community by creating more appealing and charismatic NPCs (not hard tho).

I don't think FFXIV devs are lazy. Not at all. But I do think their vision doesn't align with the player base's desired vision.

Part of it feels like a shift in outlook. Back in ARR and HW they seemed more concerned about what players wanted. These more recent years feel more like they're trying to tell us what we want.

Eh, not really. While there were definitely some shift, that wouldn't how I would put. I don't think ARR and HW were any more concerned about what players want. These days HW are often looked back with the rose-tined nostalgia glasses. The fact it was also polished with most of the malcontent removed helped. But I'll say it again, HW was one of the worst expansion when it was live, 3.0 - 3.3 was a hell that I don't care to ever relive. So I'll be on the fence about "giving players what they want" during this era, it was almost the exact opposite.

How I would describe the shift of FF14 life cycle:

    - ARR: a desperate WoW clone to revive 1.0. Many design can be seen straight up lifting from WoW.
    - HW: an attempt to be more WoW then WoW itself, and this blew up in their face.

The above two I don't think resemblance any kind of "vision", more like a developer team who desperately try to right a sinking ship in survival mode.

Stormblood I think is when Yoshi and his staff finally settle down one the long term vision they have for the game, when FF14 is given its own unique identity instead of trying to be another WoW's clone. And for good or bad, we have been staying on that track very consistently throughout every sub-sequence release.

HW actually looks more like the first attempt at appeasing players when you look at it as the result of player feedback during ARR as the groundwork for HW's content was made during ARR with Stormblood's changes being a result of feedback during the HW cycle. It takes time to turn a truck into a minivan.

I agree. I hesitate to ever call any devs lazy, but a lot of the content has been pretty uninspired lately.

Looking at newer games and things that work (and don't, so you know what to avoid) would be a pretty good idea for them, I think. At the moment they seem to be stuck in their ways and pretty stubborn about stuff that should be looked at.

The FF14 Devs are not lazy but lack sight for a vision to make good content. The proof, ARR was somewhat a clone of WoW and did good as a game and succesful for his entry on MMOmarkert. Right now, they don't have anything to copy and transform à la FF14. That's why the game is dull right now. Copying certain Palia content would open a door of fresh air of idea to transform on this game.
