    Hate me all you want..

Zepla was right, there really is no mid-core content.
pvp has been middling at best recently and dungeons have been following the same formula too long. (i.e reskined fights)
Savage raid/extremes have too high of a bar for entry and typically not worth the time day one, they feel more fun to do one expac later if at all.
games just not fun right now and it feels like all that is keeping me here sometimes is my RP community and my houseing timer

(theres no real place for this thread to be located so sorry not sorry.)

To talk about this from a PvP pov since this is where I found this post, there isn't really a whole lot you can do to make "midcore" content in PvP. The best I can think of is low/mid tier ranked CC, but that mostly just has the issue of not having enough players sustained over an entire patch cycle. The best I can think of to help the mode is to just make the Augmented Hellhound weapons able to be obtainable by lower ranked players, albeit at a slower pace than higher ranked players, just so people can least do seasonal placements to keep it active. This is prolly isn't the sole solution to make it more open ended to midcore players but its just one idea I think would be good.

I also kind of want to say that the meta achievements for the 100/300 wins for all the pvp modes is technically midcore content as well? At least if you want to grind out for them and not just passivly farm for them casually. I just say it because your still doing the "casual" content but your trying to win at a consistent rate. It's prolly a stretch to say this since your still doing the casual modes but as a player within that bracket of a midcore player and I thought grinding out for the Rival Wings mount or the Seal Rock Commander Coat by doing callouts was pretty good.

Also on the subject of just the game overall, Criterion would've been perfect place to have midcore content with how accessible it's design is inherently. But they decided to make the fights as hard as some extreme/savage/early ultimate phases and reward you with a peasants meal in terms of reward quality. Literally the biggest waste of dev time out of all the content this expansion has had.

Try posting it in general discussion and maybe more than 3 people will see it.

with pvp i have bought mostly every thing i want from the vendors , but i still do pvp, because i find it's the easiest way for me to get venture coins . i will go to crystal quartermaster to turn trophy crystal into wolf collar then i will turn wolf collar into wolf marks at the collar quartermaster, then i will go to the mark quartermaster, click wolf marks (other) to buy venture coin. that i can use to send my retainer off to get other items , to sell or to craft. any thing other then that i think they need to added more items to motivate players to keep doing it . i find the moogle event seem to be the only thing doing that right now

I think more game modes is one of the things that would defnitely help pvp more.

We have CC as an easy-to-get mode (both ranked and casual), but boy after a while the mode gets a bit stale. It would help if the maps had more interesting layouts instead of similar grids with different gimmicks, but ultimately the best thing for diversity would be leaving CC's design as it is and add a new 5x5 mode.

Then we have the Frontlines, which is a whole different beast that is not very loved because of how chaotic and imbalanced it can be. Idk if they can fix that without giving specific 'Frontline Kits' or actions only usable in Frontlines to the jobs.

In short, it needs more modes. Bring back the Feast re-designed, or do the Battle Royale idea for blue mages, or a 1x1 / 2x2 / 3x3 arena tournament. They can even use the Ul'dah Coliseum for that.

it would be nice if they added a option to join a particular company for the pvp match so you can work on the achievement log instead of put in a random company for the match , i know the wait time might be long to find you a spot , but i do think SE could make it work

A start would be to abandon the strict adherence to the 3-team design. Rival Wings doesn't have nearly the tick-rate issues that Frontlines does in my experience. Re-tooling it for 2 teams of 24, I feel, would go a long way to resolving some frustration with Frontline's design. Adjusting the maps accordingly and removing the RNG element of objective spawns. Having objectives pop in a fashion that requires groups in multiple places at once for smaller team-fights, and discourages teams from just blobbing from one obj to the next.

Thanks to Freelancer status, no player would be left out due to grand company affiliation, and less players theoretically even mean shorter queues.

Heck, this doesn't even have to be an if/or thing. Do this and have it work in tandem with the current 72-player design, giving roulettes a chance of being either 72-player, or 48-player, similar to old Secure having a 8v8v8 mode.

Will this 'fix' Frontlines? No. But it could help.

Oh, and having more than one map per mode would be refreshing, too.

But, honestly, how would you even design 'mid-core' pvp content when most people who engage with it fall into either the "It's trash, why would I bother" camp, or the "I'm going to optimize the fun out this" camp? Can mid-core even exist with those sort of polar-opposite mindsets?

This is actually how it used to be and PvP ques stopped after like 6pm. The ques that you did get were steam roll base farming with all hardcore PvP players on 1 grand company vs everyone else who was out of the loop lol.

The good news for you is that even though you are placed on a random GC, you still get achievement progress toward the GC you are currently aligned with.

from a player that came from wow and see the difference of this game that is more of a strategy based in stead of stats based , And since you are synchronise to 30 , i dont see how a faction of 3 would change someone's performance . unless all the players knew each other. but in frontline you can already group with your friends so strategy to win is already there but that still based on performance not stats.

i was more in the way of targeting one achievement at a time . like ( A line in the Sand IV) for the flame (a line in the Glade iv) and (line in the storm iv) but i see the point if everyone join flame and not storm the duty wouldn't start because it will be waiting on storm members , unless SE left the random sorting to fill the gap

but i still see the pvp stopping at 6pm even now depending on your data centre . unless you have a mixed community from around the world, due to sleep schedule

that why i pvp on siren from 10am to 6pm and then i go to bismarck from 6pm to 12am(AEST)
