The world of Ivalice is a star in its twilight days. According to Kiltian scripture, as punishment for the deadly sins of man, Faram the God of Light abandoned the earth and let it fall to darkness, the miasma known as Mist. When mankind prayed to the heavens for a chance of redemption, they were blessed with the light of the Crystals whose Palings kept the Mist and the monsters it births away. However, their light is not eternal. One by one the crystals have been destroyed by the warring nation states, and with their destruction so too have many a land fallen to the shadows.
Now a malevolent cult known as Müllenkamp has appeared to threaten the last remaining Crystals of Ivalice, located in Rabanastre, Lesalia, Archades, Mt. Bur-Omisace, Eruyt, and Rozarria. With the Crystal of Lea Monde recently destroyed due to the cult’s machinations, the remaining lands of Ivalice have never been in greater peril.
When a lone adventurer sets out in search of answers, what hidden truths will they uncover?

Nation Origin
The player character by shall be associated with one of the remaining city states of Ivalice as a citizen. This will enable them to access region-specific vendors under the control of said nation as well as progress through any exclusive national storylines that take place outside the scope of a given expansion’s MSQ. They will also be able to access nation specific equipment and cosmetics, such as Archadian-specific Judge Gear, Eryut Viera Clothing, Dalmascan soldier gear, among others.
The License Board
The various jobs that can be unlocked in Ivalice can be customized to the player’s playstyle using the respective License Board for each. In this way, a Sword Saint may choose to specialize in offensive roles as a damage dealer or take on a more supporting role as a healer or tank by obtaining the necessary licenses, and so on. License Points used for accessing and upgrading the board are awarded at set level intervals and can be reset and saved at will, allowing for builds for a variety of gameplay purposes.
Story Dungeons
Dungeons that are unlocked over the course of a given expansion story that can be queued for from anywhere in the world. They include sieges, battlefield, and other non-revisitable events and locations. They reward gear with no additional passive effects.
Overworld Levelling
Overworld enemies will be scaled to sufficiently challenge the player according to the level appropriate for the region, but can mostly be soloed without the need for a full party. Notorious monsters in the overworld may sometimes drop gear with passive effects.
Open-World Dungeons
Dungeons that may be visited at any time scattered throughout the world. They cannot be queued for directly and can be explored solo or with a party. Enemies and notorious monsters may sometimes drop gear with passive effects.
Housing
The player character will have the right to purchase an instanced home in one of the Ivalician cities that can be customized to their liking. The player may own only one house at a time, and the house shall not be restricted by nation of origin. Furnishings may be acquired from completing quests and dungeons. NPCs such as Ashe, Lanselot, Mustadio, and others may visit the house on certain days of the week after the player has encountered them in the story.
Lea Monde Restoration Project
As the city of Lea Monde lies in ruins, it us up to the various crafters and tinkerers of Ivalice to restore it to hospitable conditions. By participating in the restoration project, players can earn exclusive cosmetic rewards and furnishings.
Ivalician Conquest
The ever-encroaching threat of the Mist has rendered the regions of Ivalice vulnerable to conquest by rivalling nations. By defeating monsters in regions as members of a specific nation, that nation’s influence will increase in said area. This allows for region-specific vendors to peddle their wares in that nation’s main city, selling items at reduced prices. Players from other nations will still be able to purchase a reduced selection of said items, marked up at a premium. Such items include equipment as well as items used for crafting.
PVP - Tactics: Battlefield
A large scale battlefield where players are divided into 2 teams representing 2 randomized nations. The players claim and harvest Crystals akin to Onsal Hakair (Danshig Naadam). When defeated, players crystalize and their crystals can be interacted with to provide a temporary boost to one’s limit break before they eventually respawn.
PVP - Tactics: Skirmish
A small scale battlefield akin to Crystalline Conflict.
