No, i believe all the change mentioned is skills that currently auto change you can now choose to have them not to and have them separate buttons. Think a lot of people misunderstood that when they talked about it.I'm fairly certain it was confirmed to be in the upcoming changes for DPS in general to allow the option of having GCDs that combo all fit on one button. I don't quite know how it will work with branching combos so I'm personally undecided if I'll do this for the single target myself? But for the AoE? most probably! Its nice because its an option if at the time we decide its a bit weird then we can have it the old way. Pretty nice to have options
As for wyrmwind as an upgrade to piercing talon, since one is an OGCD and the other a regular GCD they wouldn't really be a direct upgrade? It would effectively mean we lose an OGCD to gain a buff to piercing talon which is a skill that has nearly no use. A nice idea thematically, but the practical implications are probably not for the best.

Oh? Hmm I guess I misunderstood it. Too lazy to check right now so I'll take your word for it xD

Yeah, I thought that using on AoE Rotation would be better because most melee AoE Rotation are dull on their own, the fun part is weaving other OGCD on it.I'm fairly certain it was confirmed to be in the upcoming changes for DPS in general to allow the option of having GCDs that combo all fit on one button. About Wyrmwind, I thought maybe they could still keep Whirlwind as OGCD by disabling Piercing Talon when you have two focus point, after using Wyrmwind it would revert to GCD Piercing Talon with a delay to avoid immediately using PT.
I don't think not having PT available for that short time would be an issue as we never press it, it almost taboo XP
And I'm going on this nickel and dime thinking, as from here on hotbar management is going to get worse, we're already at a point where new xpac is just new potency and animations for old skills, a second press of an existing button or sadly the outright removal of skills.
i didnt hype much about DRG nor i hate it when i see the job trailer, seems like half of skill animation we see is mostly upgraded animation from current skill like full thrust -> heaven trust. the new jump skill also seems like a continuation from current skill (one obviously shown after stardiver)
all in all iam not happy nor hate about it, DRG still... DRG from what i see
*the only weird me out is the dash for gap closer. i was like... why? we are DRG, we have JUMP, why we need a generic dash for gap closer

In the digest of the live letter, it was clarified that they didn't actually rework DRG but made it (even) more streamlined. Their reasoning is that they were not going to do major reworks of jobs and would leave that for 8.0, and so DRG was simply "expanded" like the other jobs.
Therefore, we lost the eyes in the gauge for nothing, really. Hopefully they revert that change at some point but I don't think we can expect it before the expansion after Dawntrail.
Mhh, the comparision of the live Letter that they Poster, has some interessting words.
They starting with the disclaimer, that they targeted a major/core based rework on the dragoon.
But decided than, that they would fokusing on direct upgrades of what whe have now, for 7.0.
That sound for me, as if the drg rework isnt finished yet.
At last in combination with the mentioning, that they plan for more Individuality in 8.0 (will see, if they stay by that plan).
With that, does it feels like with Monk and Astro, who needed more or less 2 Expansions, for there rework.
And i know allready, what they need to do in the next expantion:
Give move number 4 a Update.^^
Combo move 3 of both rotations had a upgrade in EW. Move number 1 had a upgrade in Shb. Move 2 and 5 has a upgrade in DT.
Now, are the 4. attacks (and move 2 and 3 for aoe) the only ones left, who dont have a upgrade yet.
I don't think Wheeling Thrust and Fang and Claw require an upgrade. Perhaps make them a tiny bit flashier but they're already quite good in my opinion.
Other things they could think about is having Mirage Dive give a scale and increasing the maximum amount of scales we can have to 3 while keeping WWT's cost at 2 and reduce it's CD from 10s to like 3-5s. This'll make MD and HJ more relevant overall.
Finally, something that's come up in the Balance is the possibility of making all our damage oGCDs or at least the jumps become oGCD weaponskills just like Lost Slash/Assassination in Bozja. This would open new ways for DRG to scale with SkS while making the rotation more involved in general and in Ultimates as well.
We'll see soon enough once the tooltips are released.

Yeah, a little disappointed to read that honestly. Just because it feels like DRG is in limbo for another expansion. I know we're not owed any promises but would be nice if we could get an out right confirmation of the direction DRG is taking. Are we keeping the same core with iterative adjustments or are we getting the rework that was extensive enough that it had to be delayed an expansion? Honestly if they never mentioned a rework everything they've done so far would be within expectations for changes to the job after each expansion. They just gotta stop dangling a rework until they're actually ready and able to implement it.
Something that's also concerning is that the word "might" is used when it comes to changing jobs in 8.0. It may be that they'll leave it for 9.0 but I want to think they won't.Yeah, a little disappointed to read that honestly. Just because it feels like DRG is in limbo for another expansion. I don't think they said they were going to change jobs greatly though? How I read it was they were going to add onto the existing kit to create further distinction and make them feel more unique. The reason they didn't rework dragoon is because they are happy with how it works after a few modifications.
If it's not broke, don't fix it.
