WoW never legitimately has 10 mil subs, and there 6 million actual subs had nothing to do with Quest based leveling. It was because it was so easy anyone could play it and they were the first MMO to advertise.

I have never in my life met a single person who thought grinding mindless Quests was fun. Not even the people who played WoW.
