    Stolen idea for NM <can I have it?>

    I'm going to reference a game that is not FFXIV. Though it's something I would like to see because it's really awesome, and as far as I know, no other game has done it, correct me if I'm wrong(except one).

    I think it would be amazing if they stole their idea for an nm. I don't really care if it would be instance or open world, open world would be awesome though.

    Basically I want them to add an nm where it takes people from every server to beat it, collectively. Whomever participates in the fight gets rewards accordingly when it dies of course. Now, what about spawn time or what have ya. Well, I think my NM idea would be an awesome thing to throw in here. If they are keeping the anima system:

    "Because anima is a life energy deal(stealing this from an anime) it could make sense that it creates an entity of some sort. Kinda like in Index(have to watch it to know what I mean). So, when x amount of anima has been used through out all of the servers, it will spawn this entity.
    Why do I say all the servers? Well, this is a way they could make use of their, dungeon finder deal they are going to do(I don't like by the way). So, what will happen is when it spawns(it can even wonder the world as a ghostly figure that you can't attack, until its a whole body) it will select 20 people from each server whom last teleported(that are level 50) and spawn them in an instance with this entity. Now, it wouldn't have any special drop, it would just be a fun random activity that we the people caused. (something along those lines please discuss this!)"


    Now, instead of growing stronger each time it dies, it will go stronger by how much anima is used when it spawns. Now, this could end up being a few day fight, which can lead to legal issues down the road. So it would probably work best as an instance fight that can be done in 30min intervals(just like dragons dogma) with a party that's more than 8 people.

    Interesting idea for a NM. Not sure about tying it to anima though.

    Maybe more like:
    The NM roams around multiple regions (open-world) and has insane HP (so that each server gets an awesome fight), and you don't have to be in a party of 8! If you see 30 people fighting it you jump with them against it. (whole server goes after it? Good let them!)

    The NM jumps to a different server after a certain percentage of damage is done to it (10 servers we have now so every 10%, that should change when more servers are introduced) OR a certain amount of time has passed.

    After it dies, people who were fighting it before it vanishes to another server get rewards sent to them by mail (Gil and crafting materials specific to this NM, maybe other stuff too). No rewards to people in a server where it vanished without a fight.

    I don't really see anything new here. You're just introducing cross-shard PvE. Servers can barely handle all players gathered together at a set location, so I don't really see how that would work with all servers at once...

    Similar things already existed in others MMO, it wasn't exactly cross-shard, but cross-faction. In DAoC, players from the 3 factions could gather in a PvPvE area (Abyss). Deep inside there was some huge monster (Legion). At first, because everyone's gear sucked, we made attempts with all 3 factions (no way to disable PvP, so we tried to be fair and not to kill each others) in order to defeat that NM. Results? We crashed the damn server.

    Don't even expect that to change at 2.0. No MMO on the market is able to manage thousands of players fighting at the same location.

    every mmo is able to,its just that there isnt any content that requires that many players.the most i seen is in aion during governor battles and large scale pvp.easily reaches 1k total on both sides.though it was all on asian servers

    Oh yeah every MMO is so able that most of them crashes when too many players are gathered...

    SWTOR crashed during PvP on Ilum when there was too many players.
    Rift crashed no later than yesterday because of the newly introduced X-shard 3 factions PvP area (Conquest)
    DAoC (old but still) often crashed in Realm vs Realm when a massive amount of players were in the same region.

    And that's only for servers crash, I'm not even gonna talk about game client not optimized to support this. Enjoy your 5 fps even with a high end PC. The only exception to the above would maybe be EvE Online.

    1K total is nothing. We had more in 2002... Having 400+ on each faction in DAoC happened often. I remember battle channel capping at 200 players and having the need of 3 of them within a single faction.

    Rokien is talking about something that would be X-shard. Do you realize how many players it would be, even on the current version of the game? So what if 2.0 is a "success" and we have 2 or 3 times what we currently have?
