PvP is not open world here at all. You have to specifically queue for instances to do it. This option cannot be disabled. If you don't want to do PvP, don't choose to queue for it. You'll never even know it exists.Good Evening,
I'm an older player so I would prefer not to have the ability to do PVP in my profile. Is there anyway to disable PVP? I don't do it and I don't want to be forced to do it while I'm out doing quests. I used to play WOW and yes you could do that and interrupt someone's enjoyment.
If it's not possible could that be put a suggestion to be looked at? I don't mind others liking PVP, but I would like the option to turn it off on my character.
Thanks
Leslie
Ahh Thanks I didn't realize that it was only in a specific location. If I don't do PVP will that stop my advancement in general? I know there's some PVP specific gear, but other than that, will it stop me from circling?

Gear from PvP is largely cosmetic. There are gear sets for the Levels 50 and 60 that have combat stats, but they are quickly outclassed by gear available from both the story quests as well as the standard cap-dungeon currency "Allagan Tomestones of Poetics" (available from Duty Roulettes, expansion-based level cap dungeons i.e. 50, 60, 70, 80, often first-timer bonus for completing duties).
Those gear pieces used to exist to have PvP gearsets and stats, but that got scrapped in favour of standardizing HP pools & damage on a per-job basis inside PvP.
You do PvP entirely for your own amusement or to get cosmetic items you desire, which may include mounts, minions, housing items, other soundries and of course glamour gear.

No, PvP is a completely separate system from the rest of the game content. Your gear serves no purpose there other than cosmetics. There are no player levels. There are completely separate and different skills than anywhere else in the game.
Not participating in PvP will have minimal impact on your progression through the game. To you, it would only serve as one source of XP among many.
The most optimal way to level a class in FFXIV is to mix content. That means combining roulettes, dungeons, FATEs, challenge log, hunts, sidequests, main quests, and anything else that grants XP.
