If only it had the hairstyle... litterally the only major thing this could've had going for it.
If only DoM got half the glam options DoW has...
I disagree, mostly. I want to see more character costumes released, even the ones like this that are 90% available in the game. The model exists and the work has already been done to adapt the model for other races, so why not give players access to it if they want it?Whlie I agree with the basic concept of "Some people will pay if they find it worth it, other's wont...store not going anywhere" - I'm more troubled by the lack of effort of this release. It just feels more predatory than some dramatic new mount that probably took enough dev time to at least justify being in the mog shop.
$12 for what this release is just feels like a bad trend, and something I'd want to discourage. I'm not someone who is 100% adverse to cash shops either. But if it feels like gouging (in particular players who may not realize how close they can create this outfit entirely for free in game)...well, I don't want to see that.
I want them to put more of these up, not necessarily expecting people to buy them, but still making them available for those that are after that very specific piece or want it to be non-class-locked. I don't care about cash shop stuff being "high effort" or "low effort", so long as it is priced high or low accordingly.
That said, I agree with you on this one being overpriced. It (and the other things I'm wishing for) should be at the same price point as the ARR Scion sets. Still, they have put it at the newer standard NPC price point and the marketing team is probably not up on the intricacies of why the oldest sets are priced differently.
On the subject of players who don't realise you can recreate something like it in-game... how much of the population is that? It just seems natural to me to look around every part of the game for what glamours I can get, and these are not exactly obscure. The gloves and boots come from multiple sources at level 15 and are one of the first really nice in-game glamours you get access to, and the coat can be found on the marketboard. I immediately recognised that Ysayle was wearing reused player gear, just like every other character at that phase in the life of the game.
Do people really have that little awareness of common glamour items while also caring about glamour enough to pay for it? Honest question; it's just outside of how I've always approached the game.
(And is this why people keep repeating "healers get nothing but white robes" and "there's no good dancer gear"?)
Edit: not a direct dig at the post above which appeared while I was writing this.

I'm still reading it as Lady Iceberg every time.
The white belt makes it a much better piece than the plain ones already in game.
My memory may fail me but isnt it just some WHM robe colored blue? Mogstation, more like Mugstation, a station where you can go to in order to get mugged.
Taledeji Aledeji isn't the worst FFXIV villain. It's Squeenix CEO san. I didn't like it when that guy in a suit interrupted Yoshi P at some point near EW launch by going up the stage, explaining about PS5 support and joking by asking him for deadlines and stuffs. That's not funny, you're not cool, stop trying to be one. Greedy upper managements are why the game industry is dying. Microtransactions in a game with monthly subs is a corporation greed in it's purest form.
They took FFXIV producer to work two jobs with FFXVI while keep putting subpar items on mogstation for extra money. And when it's finally a good item (which is just a reskin of good models), they maks it expensive af. This game keeps Squeenix alive with stable revenues and this is how they treat the game instead of actually improving it to retain revenue. I wonder what would happen if sub numbers start to drop massively, maybe they will prioritize XIV again. Rinse and repeat. Typical really.
Remember when people thought this game was different than WoW? the saviour of MMO? when there were a lot of people coming from WoW? Well once XIV get big, they become greedier and start putting focus on the wrong places. One lesson we can take is, no matter the corporation, they need rivals to keep them on their toes. Otherwise theyre just gonna keep milking players knowing there arent better alternatives out there.
At this rate I dont have a big hope for next expansion.
It's a bad joke. The turn the game is taking is discouraging. No wonder most people I know quitted the game until 7.0 I would do the same if not for ultimate.
