Same thing goes with the some of the Scion ARR attires, that being custom dyed regular ARR dungeon gear. The Ysayle one is no different however its still pretty stupid decision in general.

The ARR Scion outfits have the same niche benefit as this one: a chance to get all-class versions or very specific colour schemes of some otherwise not-all-class gear pieces.

That said, they come at a lower price point than the more unique NPC sets, but Ysayle's does not.

From memory:

Y'shtola's outfit may be DoM only, though no really useful pieces.

Yda's outfit is sadly a single piece besides her DoW-specific hat, apparently because it's necessary to have her shirt and gloves interact correctly, although the shorts and sabatons could have been separate. (Would have given people access to Hyuran hempen pantalettes model and tank greaves. Can now get the greaves as an independent piece from the Liberator set.)

Papalymo's outfit has belted robe in a glossy black that wouldn't have been available as dye at the time; tank gauntlets if you can work with the tacky yellow, and a specific colour scheme of gaskins that has been used for a few NPCs.

Thancred's outfit includes a DoW-specific tunic and potentially-quite-useful armoured caligae.

Urianger's outfit also has DoW-specific caligae, non-armoured in this case. (I like this gear piece. Nice simple design for sandals. A pity it isn't unisex.)

Getting her clothes as an achievement reward seems kind of morbid to me given the way her story ends. "You beat HW! Congratulations here are Lady Iceheart's clothes."

Yeah, that would definitely feel wrong.

As I've been saying for ages, it's pretty likely that's just the line they give instead of having to delve into the specifics of why they can't let us glamour some things freely while keeping others locked down.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the sets which get shared around to different roles when reused are the less class-specific ones, while those with a clear "armoured set, light DPS set and mage robes" go to the same classes again.

There are things they're fine to share around, and things they want to keep class-locked, but their system may be all-or-nothing and they don't want "all".
