Great idea, though I must say it should be able to gain strength (ergo recover HP and increase in base defense) for each person that dies fighting it. Any Ur-Dragon fight would not be the same without that.I'm going to reference a game that is not FFXIV. Though it's something I would like to see because it's really awesome, and as far as I know, no other game has done it, correct me if I'm wrong(except one).
Dragons Dogma
I think it would be amazing if they stole their idea for an nm. I don't really care if it would be instance or open world, open world would be awesome though.
Basically I want them to add an nm where it takes people from every server to beat it, collectively. Whomever participates in the fight gets rewards accordingly when it dies of course. Now, what about spawn time or what have ya. Well, I think my NM idea would be an awesome thing to throw in here. If they are keeping the anima system:
"Because anima is a life energy deal(stealing this from an anime) it could make sense that it creates an entity of some sort. Kinda like in Index(have to watch it to know what I mean). So, when x amount of anima has been used through out all of the servers, it will spawn this entity.
Why do I say all the servers? Well, this is a way they could make use of their, dungeon finder deal they are going to do(I don't like by the way). So, what will happen is when it spawns(it can even wonder the world as a ghostly figure that you can't attack, until its a whole body) it will select 20 people from each server whom last teleported(that are level 50) and spawn them in an instance with this entity. Now, it wouldn't have any special drop, it would just be a fun random activity that we the people caused. (something along those lines please discuss this!)"
Now, instead of growing stronger each time it dies, it will go stronger by how much anima is used when it spawns. Now, this could end up being a few day fight, which can lead to legal issues down the road. So it would probably work best as an instance fight that can be done in 30min intervals(just like dragons dogma) with a party that's more than 8 people.

We're not talking about hundreds of people literally showing up on the screen; in Dragon's Dogma, when fighting Ur-Dragon, you only have yourself and your Pawns on your screen. However, at each stage in the fight there's a "reset" wherein Ur-Dragon leaves and then returns with a different amount of life based on total damage done across the world.
Hello!
This is an interesting idea and I am glad for the discussion, but we do have a policy against directly advertising/ discussing other games. As such, I am going to lock this thread. Thank you for your understanding.

god hate say this but i like that idea

While people are fighting the Ur-Dragon all at once, they are not actually in the same spot.
Each player is in their own world. In fact, due to this the Ur-Dragon is in a kind of desynced state where several people can actually get the killshot on the same Ur-Dragon.
What I like most about it is that it is healed when it kills someone and I do hope that if XIV does ever implement a boss like this, it would in fact do the same and I 'am' for it getting stronger each time it is killed just like the Dragon's Dogma Ur-Dragon.
It would also be nice if they continually updated its loot tables so that it is always relevant content. Not necessarily top tier items but items that people who aren't the hardcores would want or at least entry level into whatever end-game events are relevant at the time.

That makes more sense then if only the status of the monster is shared across players at different locations. I am still worried about the technical side of things.
There is no such thing as "their own world" for us in XIV, either each single player (or let's say party) have its very own instance, either we have to be gathered. I still don't see servers being able to handle tons of instances created at the very same time, for a cross-shard event. Before aiming for anything that ambitious, SE should try to make large scale PvE on a single server already.
And then, maybe gather couple of servers together. And finally, aim for something big, if steps before were successful![]()

I did give the link about the fight, because I know I didn't explain it well, you just had to click "Dragons Dogma".
The only reason why I say make it instance is there are going to be people who will fight it non stop for those few days. That will bring up legal issues for SE(AV anyone?). So if they made it like Dragons dogma, get like 20 or more(however many) people in an instance. Give it a timer pretty much saying HEY YOU GUYS ARE DONE FIGHTING, but if you wanna fight more you can. idk, I think open world would be more amazing, though, this will probably be the only time I will like instance content as well.

Wait, you want an NM that takes people from every server to beat?
You were SO against a Content Finder, which brings people from other servers together for the sake of doing stuff... You need to make up your mind on which you want...
I don't like content finder, my mind hasn't been changed. Though, It would just be People from your server, and people fight it from there server, and other people fight it in there server. I'm just saying that it would work really well with content finder.
