having a Faerie was never SCH's singular defining thematic, nor would having 4 DoT related skills compared to the 20 or so other buttons it has suddenly compromise that identity.

I'm sorry.. but I just don't believe pushing a single button to spread a weakened DoT that won't even complete the tick cause the pull is already dead will make the job's damage rotation that much more fun.
Fine, don't make it about the faeries (though I see no good reason to leave them out) but make up something actually interesting. Of these old abilities, only Shadow Flare seems mildly interesting to bring back.
Yes to all of this.
Sad, but true. I can't really argue that. I don't think most people even know Sleep is still in the game. I'm surprised it hasn't been removed. Putting something to sleep to deal with a hard pull used to be fun... oh well.
Anyway, I've said my piece. Take care.

What about miasma 2, a damage skill that was a massive DPS gain to use but had such a high MP cost that it was impossible to keep 100% uptime on itI'm sorry.. but I just don't believe pushing a button to spread a weakened DoT that won't even complete the tick cause the pull is already dead will make the job's damage rotation that much more fun.

I think interacting with MP more is something the game really needs
What about it being a Faerie skill that uses Faerie Gauge? It's a toggle, and then if you run out of Faerie Gauge it starts to eat at your MP like Lost Font of Magic. It'd give the Gauge a bit more of a purpose as well as add two things of management to think about. I kinda like that idea, though by then it's not Miasma 2 anymore, but something new.
But yeah, sounds fun.
I would actually support a self buff that works like lost font (but with a much weaker MP drain since you need ethers to survive the MP drain font imposes) or a skill that does the same thing (say a DOT that you can turn on an off at will that drains MP to maintain) but I’m not sure if it should work with fairy gaugeWhat about it being a Faerie skill that uses Faerie Gauge? I’ve always said that in the world of 5.0 SCH the fairy gauge should handle the healing since even though I like the current aetherflow system requiring choice in your healing decisions I know it’s wildly unpopular, that was dissipation also becomes a healing tool again, not just a gimped spreadlo amplifier
For the people who think Aetherflow should only be used for healing, I only have one thing to say to them.I’ve always said that in the world of 5.0 SCH the fairy gauge should handle the healing since even though I like the current aetherflow system requiring choice in your healing decisions I know it’s wildly unpopular, that was dissipation also becomes a healing tool again, not just a gimped spreadlo amplifier
SGE is right there. You can play it. Addersgall is purely for healing.
I know that but I’m looking at the wider community here (I think the amount I speak about how much I hate the modern healers speaks for itself at this point)
I personally hate how addersgall is only used for healing, anytime I take SGE into alliance raids I almost OOM because I hate using druachole on myself to maintain mana
My idea would more centre on aetherflow giving you 3 stacks of energy drain and then energy drain could be used in a variety of different circumstances to either give more fairy gauge or more damage based on when it’s used, then the aetherflow heals can be moved to the fairy gauge alongside seraph, blessing, whispering dawn and illumination
Like say if SCH had 3 DOT’s
0 DOT’s up- 1 ED= 40 gauge, no damage
1 DOT up- 1 ED= 30 gauge, 100 damage
2 DOT’s up- 1 ED= 20 gauge, 200 damage
2 DOT’s up- 1 ED= 10 gauge, 300 damage
So you could use the off burst aetherflow to store gauge and the on burst aetherflow for more damage
Of course nothing about this is refined just a random idea to remove that aetherflow is janky
