I dont understand fishing collectables

My collectability seems REALLY low.

I'm watching this guy fishing for mayashells with stats quite a bit lower than mine

His gathering is 2950ish (im 3280) and perc 2480 (I'm at 2700).
My catches are 500-700..... this guy is consistently getting 800 though.
My mining and bota are perfect, but my fishing just feels.... off. It always seems lower than any guide I watch, despite higher stats.

Prize Catch, or Patience II, essentially guarantees collectables will be caught at their highest rating. For that reason, stats aren't nearly as important for FSH collectables.

Hm, was thinking I had patience 2 up the entire time, i'll have to keep an eye out, maybe im messing it up somehow.

Yeah, as a mooch, Patience 2 is really the only option available to push collectablity. And I believe Patience 2 tends to be not as 100% as Prize Catch. I may have misspoke previously on the assertion that it should always be highest tier with it, may have just been thinking that it (nearly) guarantees a "Large" fish, with some variability within the "Large" category.

The result is, you're really doing everything you can with it already, FSH just has more rng baked into it
