I'm a bit confused still as to what each does. And whats best to focus on for HQ.

I'm starting to think it's all luck & level.
Craft an item wearing my best gear: I get +300 quality.
Craft same item with no gear: I get +300 quality.
Craft item 10 levels higher than me: I get +250 quality.
As I approach the level, the quality improves.
(Note, I'm using the same skills/sequence each time). If there is a difference, it may not be so big to go: WOW, I need to have that!
Also curious about skills to use.
I've been using in order.
Masters mend
Fit for a king
bregon's blessing
comfort zone
piece by piece.
With those skills I can get to 70% if crystal remains stabalized 99% of the time, comfort zone being there for emergency at the end standard or rapid if I need to try to boost my progression fast.
That and it's worthwhile to experiment a little.I'm starting to think it's all luck & level.
My record at the moment is about +900 quality with Iron Ingots, about 600-700 quality for Cobalt Ingots and about 400-500 quality for Rose Gold at lvl 50.
It helps a lot to have all crafts at 50 but you don't need all 50s to get this.
Anyway, on topic, the stats work as advertised.
Craftsmanship (of either type) - Success + Great Success rate
-> Recipes are divided by families between the 2 types. (E.g. All rings are magic, all ingots are regular)
-> Focus on the wrong craftsmanship and you'll go boom boom boom.
Control - Elemental Instability Prevention
As a bonus, I'll toss in this:
dLvl - Failure rate (Increases as it gets more positive)
Craftsmanship effectiveness is basically reduced by dLvl as you try harder recipes.
I've noticed that the BIGGEST help with crafting is level. The higher the level, the more noticeable the success rate is.
After that, I've noticed that craftsmanship skill does help (but not just +1 or +2, but adding a lot to notice a little). I notice this when I upgrade my tool (since it has both craftsmanship skills).
Now, as for whether or not to use Magic vs Non-Magic Craftsmanship, I have yet to see an official/prooven post indicating when one is used and what not.
As for 'Stats' (int, mind, etc). Unsure how truly effective they are (and in what quantity they need to be in order to be effective).
I will note this:
Crafting the exact same thing 10 times (same location, direction, moon phase, weather, etc, for those who are superstitous) I notice a myriad of different results. Results ranging from: 5 success in a row, to 10 failures in a row. I notice fails giving almost as much quality as a success, and success happening regardless of orb colour.
The ONLY things I feel confident about are:
Continuously using 'careful' increases chance of destabilizing element. (Not guaranteed, I can fail 10 times in a row with no destabilizing, or destabilize on first attempt).
Continuously using 'wait' can result in stabilizing element. (Not guaranteed, I can use wait once and stabalize, or use wait 4 times with no stabalization, or use wait 3 times, then standard, then wait 3 times, and still not be stabalized). AND I can even use 'Careful' while destabalized and end up stabilized again. Actually, I'm starting to wonder if this is just random too.
And, well, that's all I feel confident about. That, and I can just spam standard synth, ignore everything, and still end up with roughly the same result averaged over time.
Well, dLvl becomes constant once you hit lvl cap.
I would prefer this to be something unannounced. There are very few things in the game at the moment that require any work done.whether or not to use Magic vs Non-Magic Craftsmanship

Hopefully in 2.0 the stats will be more meaningful, more transparent and actually have a noticeable effect on crafting.
Something like showing the name of a recipe in green if it Craftsmanship or Blue if it is Mag Craftsmanship.
Having a list of recipes such as.
