Look at the thrice obvious sign.
That's a chocobo ranch, sheesh.
However, I do really wish they'd move the Aetherytes to a more scenic and central place! Of course they'd need to jigger the server structure because they obviously know that everyone will gather around the aetheryte, market ward and inn exit, but I've faith they'll take that into account.

It kills me that the cities are remaining the same.
I really want to have GC headquarters that reside in real buildings. After all, these things are supposed to be the focal point of each city, but they are tucked away in an alley with the market wards??
Even if they have to be in a separate zone, at least give them the appearance of a unique structure from the outside.
GC HQ's technically do reside in real buildings, you just can't walk to it lol. Either way though, it's definitely a step behind it's predecessor. Bastok had it's Metalworks, Windurst had it's Star Tree, Jeuno had Ru`lude Gardens, Sandoria had it's Cathedral and Palace and Aht Urghan was similar to what XIV is like, but XIV was being produced around that time period which is why they cheaped out on it.
They do have a small appearance like going to Maelstrom you can see the flags and whatnot but given that there will be 'Free Companies' for players at some point in 2.0, it's likely GCs won't be central post Umbral Era events.

As shown in one concept art, the atheryte is smack dab in the middle of the cities now (It has benches and everything):

I didn't see any captions on this piece. Is this confirmed to be Gridania?
Also, still doesn't look like it's in the center of the city, but that's not a requirment. If this is actually a preview of new Aetheryte Plazas, that would be great.

Apparently it is. If you look through other concepts of 2.0 you'll see a railway going through (What possibly looks like Limsa) and the achievement NPC (Osirus or whatshisname) talks of a railway as well.

Aetheryte Plazas need to be more centralized... it's because of the poorly designed cities why everyone now resides in Uhglah, er... I mean Uldah.
Oh gawd yes, this would be the reason to return to Grid. It could be part of Grid but atleast is not one big ant farm or rat-maze!
I wouldn't worry about server issues and population and characters... just look at some of the camps. We're just talking about three cities and two of 'em going unused.
~'\[[_LEGACY_]]/'~TENTs because solo-friendly content forces me to want one!

Brings me back to FFXI and Windurst *Shudder* NOBODY went there because it was a damn maze and took so long to get from point A to point B, and San'D'Oria/Jeuno/Aht Urghan were the most populated places in my serverAetheryte Plazas need to be more centralized... it's because of the poorly designed cities why everyone now resides in Uhglah, er...
