    Aetheryte Plazas

    It's my understanding that with 2.0, the cities themselves aren't changing much. The one thing I would request or at least hope they consider changing, is the Aetheryte Plazas.

    Everyone has seen the original 1.0 trailer, where the trio of Elezen, Miqo'te and Hyur were in what appeared to be the adventurer's guild getting some levequests. In the center of this area was a large crystal, reminiscent of our current Aetheryte.

    I would like to see the city Aetherytes moved to make such a location. Currently they are tucked away into a corner of each city. Not really a centralized location. I'm not saying put them in the Adventurer's Guild, but take Ul'dah for example:

    The current Aetheryte is on the edgewall of the city. The middle of the city would make a fabulous place for the crystal, and it could even be increased in size. Don't get me wrong, the fountain is neat and all, but the Aetheryte would fit so much better there. It's a central location in the city.

    If the Aetheryte Plazas could be something more than they are now, like a centralized hub for people to gather at, I think that would really add to the feel of the game.

    Just a thought, considering 2.0 will allow more than 40 characters to be loaded onscreen.

    On the subject now: yes! That would definitely be something I would like to see and I feel like it would add a lot of life to the cities. It's a shame more won't be immediately done after 2.0 =(.

    Immersion wise, yes, great idea.
    Server/Load wise, could be a problem. It would drastically increase the population in that one location.

    Things would need to be moved around (i.e., the adventurer's guild moved out of that location to somewhere else).

    Perhaps the new Aetheryte Plaza could double as the Adventurer's Guild when the update comes? At the least, you could put the Levequest counter there.

    Then simply change the Hourglass, the Mizzenmast and the Roost to regular Inn/Tavern locations.

    I imagine that was the plan to start with considering each levquest center has a good chunk of "White space" that could have been where a aether crystal could have been housed.

    I imagine server load issues arose soon after development hit full pace moving the plaza to another location with nothing to do other than it's specified task. Who knows if 2.0 will allow more people in the area before it starts to buckle.

    Agree'd I'd love the game to have a lot more atmosphere, the CS/CG always feel amazing, then you load into an area or a fight and it goes from epic to 3 random mobs, no nps doing things/fighting in the background.
    This is along the same lines as what the OP is saying imo, so I would Def back this kind of change

    I really hope that all the City's, hamlets and camps are made to look a whole lot more like well city's, hamlets and camps.
    Even if its just background fluff we cant get too, atm (yes I'm saying it again) the whole area feels like its the size of N.Ireland and a city is more like a camp/outpost then the hub of an area.

    Sorry for being abit off topic! But when i started reading this thread i thought it was going in a different direction.

    When you said citys would not be remade, and you talked about Aetheryte plazas. I started immagine how there was small plazas/towns outsides citys, much like our Aetheryte camps we have now, but alittle bit bigger.

    They where very beautiful to look at, and they had NPCs walking around, doing their thing, a kid playing with a ball.
    A guy in the corner who liked to gamble. A carpenter working a roof. A shepperd doing his thing.

    There was a Inn with a bar, and in the middle of it there was a Aetherite, much like the picture you had. Here you could retrieve generic quests, not as rewarding nor as fun as the rest of the quests, that you would find from the town NPCs. But you could do them quick when you had little time.

    The NPCs of these towns/plazas would need help with various stuff, bigger stuff, harder stuff. Like killing the beast who is roaming up in the mountain near the town.
