So heres my gripe with all the doom and gloom with FFXIV, is there an alternative MMO? Like im genuinely interested if there is, but personally cant say that ive really found anyother MMOs worth playing... Active, growing, no PTW, not a massive grindfest, fun classes that arent too difficult, fun/difficult bosses/raids, bonus if its cross-platform, soo anything like that out there?

No. The entire genre is in decay. That's why FF14 survives, because it's the least worst in a pile of garbage.

Me neither, and that's why I'm still here. It's the best selection out of not-so-great choices.

I mean, every game has their type of meta. If they changed it, then what comes after would be the meta and people would complain about that.

The meta only really matters in the hardest content anyway.

The problem is when design choices catering that meta that only matters to a small amount of players in 1 specific part of content ends up negatively effecting the rest of the content for the larger part of the player base.

WoW Cataclysm classic might come out one day. That's what FFXIV devs played to make ARR, and a lot of things here such as tomes and dungeon roulette existed in Cata. Even some job design might be familiar if played FFXIV at launch, like summoner was basically affliction warlock, black mage was fire mage, so on.

It was notoriously difficult at first tho, heroics and even normal raids had to be nerfed. But god was it fun.

Personally it's the only other MMO that I'm interested in.

Cata Affliction and Fire did not particularly play like current nor ARR SMN and BLM...

It was notoriously difficult at first tho, heroics and even normal raids had to be nerfed. But god was it fun.

Aye, I could definitely go for playing the Heroic dungeons again. Definitely not going to be able to keep up alts, though, so I'll actually have to decide on a single class. Darn.

Not exactly, but I thought that the inspiration was there. Like fire mages could get procs for Pyroblast (like Firestarter) for attacking with fire spells, affliction had like Unstable Affliction and Corruption as DOTs and that void walker that was basically the old Titan tank pet.

It's: raiders

And it's raiders who care about fflogs

And even more: raiders who care about fflogs but at the same time suck so much so they constantly cry and whine disgusting their whining as "job feedback"

The 2 minute meta likely exists because it makes for much easier job balancing as a whole, as you have a fixed scenario you can test jobs inside of.

Yea, it's balancing for the expected kind of player.
The communication needs to be more explicit in the target player if anything.
