So I googled that question...and the answer made me want to vomit...
so...here it is.
"Both interpretations provide visually alluring imagery for the male psyche -- and many others. Many people find vulnerability and softness in catgirls appealing because they can imagine fulfilling the role of protector and provider."
Yeeeeaaaaahhhh.
Neat.
When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.

Pls don't tell me you act like this while playing as a Miqote
"OWO IM A C@"
"Nwahagha"
"I'm a fox"
"Nyaho o/ o7"
"Mare?"
Too much Cringe.
Hmm... Boredom with normal hoomans while not wanting to move so far as to reach an entirely new species?
Part of it I'd say also stems from ancient human/animal hybrid creatures in various mythologies which over time evolved into what is usually collectively called demi-humans or monster girls as it's expanded far beyond just catgirls.
I could Care Less about Cat Girls.
But not gonna lie, some of this Fanart is Kickin~
