Puzzles?

There's one in an early dungeon. Sunken Temple of Qarn has an optional puzzle with scales and items(that I skip the majority of times).

That reminds me that there are variant dungeons and figuring out all the different paths. If you don't look them up, you can figure it out from the clues in different routes and journal entries you get from each route, but you have to read them carefully to extract the right clues and then apply those clues to the objects around you in the dungeon.
