Krile, Thancred, Urianger are relatable, while Y'shtola, G'raha, Alphinaud aren't

We all know a Krile, a Thancred, and an Urianger in our lives. They are flawed people, but they are also good-natured people. Krile reminds me of a girl who had some self-doubts of her abilities but she didn't constantly mention it, and she still tries her best. Thancred has minor anger issues and is over-protective. Urianger is a nerd who is socially awkward and finds it hard to open up. These are all traits and personalities we can find in our lives.

What about the other three ?

Y'shtola is a walking encyclopedia who will talk back to gods and humansplain a god's motive back to the god. Her explaining Hydaelyn's motives in front of Hydaelyn herself was the cringiest thing I've ever witnessed.

G'raha is an obsessive fanboy, I literally don't know anyone like him... The burger scenes are whatever, but him constantly talking about how he wants to adventure with you is borderline creepy.

As for Alphinaud, no he is absolutely not relatable at all, he's way too idealistic and naive and he'll go into monologues on peace and cooperation, the only thing he reminds me of is people at UN making speeches imploring us to do X or Y (for a good cause, but it's still very unrelatable).

I'm not a fan of G'raha and Alisaie fanboying about you either. For G'raha, it kinda makes sense considering him woke up in a time you were a legend and a example for a whole generation, then the whole century in the first. But yeah, I always disliked Alisaie for that exact reason, especially when she tries to gatekeep you from other characters, like with Estinien when they meet. I always felt it was really unhealthy.

About the walking encyclopedia, it's something that I don't have too many problem with. But it's something that makes me wary of Dawntrail. I mean, it's hard to feel we're going on an adventure and visit places not well know when you have 6 walking encyclopedy in your backpack that follow you everywhere you go. I fear them spoonfeeding you lore might hurt the whole promise of the extension. But wait and see, as the other says.

Alphinaud makes sense in the context of the game. Some know it all child genius that get put in its place by the real world. He might be annoying at time, but overall, I liked his character arc.

Yeah. I think a lot of people are forgetting that a number of these characters were essentially scholars/researchers before becoming scions.

When we only knew G'raha in the CT raids, I just saw him as a young, naive cat, like any other random adventurer SE throws into stories that we never see again.

In Shadowbringers, I liked the Crystal Exarch, but somehow, toward the end of it, they planted the seed that would turn him into a fanboy. Once he went to the Source, he became more like his younger, naive but adventurous self, doing things he couldn't when he was made of crystal. I'd have liked it more if he remained this wise Crystal Exarch, but maybe the problem is that Y'shtola and Urianger already serve these roles, and they wanted someone who could act as more of a brother-in-arms.

The problem that I see is that I used to see Thancred as a brother-in-arms but they kept sending him off to do spy work while I did everything. I saw Alphinaud as that too, but then I stopped liking him.

Alphinaud's character was relatable in ARR because he was that kid that wanted to come across smart always and 1-up everyone as if he was smarter than them, when he was just a kid. But then he changed and became a righteous goody-two-shoes and his voice actor changed as well and I didn't connect with him anymore, because it's not authentic to always fight for what's "right" as if it's not your opinion you're fighting for, but whatever this "right" is.
