So I have been considering spending more time in my space, going out and hanging with the type of people that I can talk to about stuff we all agree on, and relate to. However, I want to get my weekly caps/make sure I don't lose anything. It started coming to me two nights ago that maybe I should stay more within my space and group of people I can relate to and talk to without either getting upset or w/e else. So anyone know how much we have to get on to cap/make sure we don't lose anything and maintain things like island? Looking for a number of days a week type thing that way I can work on balancing.

As far as your island goes, you won't lose anything. Not even your captured creatures or crops you might have been growing at the time. All of it will be there when you get back, regardless of how long you've been gone. If you are looking for constant uptime though for progress, once or twice a week to check it all and get orders going for the next cycle would probably be sufficient.

As it relates to tomes, you could cap them in an hour by doing reset hunt trains. That's the quickest way. Regarding Island Sanctuary, there is a method available from the "Overseas Casuals" group (the authoritative source for all things Island Sanctuary) that lets you manage the Island Sanctuary for the week in five to ten minutes, once per week. Ultimately, there are too many variables and without knowing your particular circumstances, like and dislikes, it's impossible to give an appropriately prescriptive answer. All of that aside, video games should be fun, a hobby that you enjoy in moderation. While you're playing FFXIV, do things in the game that you enjoy. If you're playing FFXIV and you stop having fun, turn it off and go do something else.

For weekly tomes, you could log in once a day, do an Expert roulette, log out, and be done in five days for very little time. It's probably the least time invested in a single sitting for it.
