the majority of players do not want this added, thus SE most likely will listen to the mass majority of the player base that does not want it then rather listen to the few palyers that do want it added. d lvling in XI sucked and was annoying, adding more fuel to the fire was how getting exp was a bit slow.

Now to kinda compromise with the ppl that want it added and the ones that dont, maybe SE can make you lose exp upon death but you will never actually d lvl. So you can die mutliple times until you lose all exp gained within that level but you can never go back to previous level. example you are at level 25 with 10k exp you keep dying from aggro mobs unitl all the exp is gone but you never will go back to level 24 with X amount of exp to level up to 25, you will be at level 25 with 0 exp within that level. maybe this could give players a kick in the ass like some ppl want, but like i said in eariler most ppl don t want anything that involes D lvling.

Or just the people who want a exp loss, they can have it and only them. When they die they loss all their levels to every job bringing them back to level one on all jobs. Everytime.

Hey if they are so skilled that they want a death penalty that they think isn't so bad, then they can have this one because it won't effect them cause they're so good on time and skillful playing right?

i like your post and agree with you, but i think its safe to say SE will mostly likely not add this penalty. But thier will always be those few ppl who will want this added. the majoirty of ppl dont even wanna hear/see anything about D lvling especially ppl from XI.

The compromise is said in previous post about loosing exp upon death but you never actually d Level is a route SE could take to have both players that want death penalty and those that arent to fond of it. It could be a factor is sovling the issues of ppl not knowing how to play/use thier class/job correctly and the leveling progression at once. I say this because if you loose exp upon death players will be forced to stop dicking around and preform their role, also its not possible to never die so eventually players will loose exp thus having to regain exp anyways. so kinda a two birds with one stone deal.

and the compromise is the fair/safe route for SE to take because loosing exp to the point of actually d lvling sucks, maybe you are at a certian level and thier could be one ability that so vital to you preforming your role not having it completely chainges everything for you. so if you keep dying and d level and lose that key ability some ppl will be thrown off thier game and go down a downwards spiral of dying more and more thus loosing even more exp, etc. thats why with the compromise i said ppl will have that fear/threat of having to regain lost exp over again for dying weither or not it was from lack of knowledge to play the class/job or just bad luck.

i would express my point of view and many other people would debate me... well.... would like developers say something about this. as this game havent had exp penalty since begining when Tanaka was director, wonder what the director thinks about this.

But well they havent changed it so maybe they like the idea of no exp penalty. just my guessing.

Good idea! As long as the players who chose to have that enabled can have a special "FFXIV pro player" tag near their name to show how skilled/dedicated they truly are.

Where was that thread about "Hardcore/Diehard fan/Legacy mode"? That thread had all the epic ideas to bring back just for the people who wants them! (Epically bad or good is a whole 'nother matter)

Right, because conjuring up an extreme example that no one would agree with is always the best way to present a counter-argument.

Death penalty has absolutely nothing to do with player skill.

Do you actually have an opinion or counter-argument worth discussing? Something of value to offer on the topic? Or are ridiculous strawmen and ad-hominems all you're good for?

There are people in this thread giving very compelling counter-arguments against xp loss, ones well worth discussing or debating. Maybe you should let them handle it.
