If its in-game that your referring to.. then yes , and dying is dying.. you just respawn back at your HP and suffer a slight Dur. Damage to all gear.. Brink of Death only last for so long ( which isn't long at all) and I haven't had Brink of Death for a long time. I really hope for a better " Fear of dying" system because right now really its just spending 5k here and 5k there....Especially in my shoes when I make 500k-1mil a day 5k is nothing.

Oh, so you do agree with me that there should be a stricter death penalty, thanks for finally changing your mind!~

If anything it should be a longer weakness period if you use return while "unconscious" (but not when raised by a non-Cnj/Whm). I actually don't agree with the gear damage, it's pointless and only really hurts newer players. But that's just IMO.

Exp loss/deleveling doesn't foster a particularly helpful environment. I had a terrible time getting help for things in FFXI if there was a chance that the people who didn't need the mission/fight might die during it (until SE removed the death penalty for mission BCNMs, anyway).

I was really happy when FFXIV came out and had durability loss instead of exp loss. I can always pay people for the repair costs they might incur from helping me, but I can't pay them back lost exp.

Unless it is done like in Aion, where you can pay to get it back, or EverQuest II where it regenerates over a period of time, I am against this. It will foster an environment where some people will be afraid to explore or take any chances. Possibly not even do dungeons unless they are several levels over it where it's easy. Doesn't sound very hardcore, does it?

What I view as hardcore: Requiring skill and strategy, NOT a stupid punishment for failure.

(And about the Everquest II and Aion death penalty, I'm neutral on it since you can get it back at least. I still don't like it, just a point of reference.)

The angels dance like feathers float, they're here to see and to be seen,
The clock strikes two, the music slows and each one slowly dons their wings,
Once outside they all pair off and hand in hand they leave
But I'm still waiting, yeah, and I'm still waiting

Just a thought that came to my head and is less a global death penalty and more of a Penalty for deaths in certain content. They could setup a penalty where if x number of deaths occur in a dungeon/etc a powerful shade/ascian comes to reap you for cheating death so many times and if you wipe against him you get auto kicked from the area.
