New Player Can't Pay Sub Error (-24202)

I got a friend to start playing and he loves the game so much. His 30-day free trial ended and he's been trying to sub for a week. He has tried 2 different cards, 2 different devices and multiple browsers. Both cards are in good standing and with different banks. He keeps getting error code (-24202). He reached out to support who ghosted him.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I hate for him to have to use time cards over something that shouldn't be an issue to begin with. SE wants your money but they're going to make it hard as hell for you to give it to them.

Howdy, has he tried deleting cache data and or history of said browsers? If he has an Adblock or something that disable scripts, it might also be interfering...If he has disabled cookies, he may also need to also re-enable them. A VPN will also cause an issue. (Sorry for the edits, there's just quite a few things it could be.)

An easy solution he could try is to install a fresh browser and see if that works...if it doesn't, go down the list.

    Here is what I found:

What is error code 24202 with payment?
The (-24202) error is a technical error that occurs because temporary files, extensions or add-ons that browsers use interferes with the actions taken by the web site. Please change web browsers or delete cookies on your default browser.

Good morning! Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

As previously mentioned, the issue you are describing is a technical error. Many actions can trigger this error, such as a slow internet connection, certain security/privacy changes on the default Internet browser, an application running in the background causing interference, use of a VPN or an odd connection (EG: schools or cafes), a possible virus detected on the device, many rapid payments at once, and numerous other actions.

We advise clearing the cache/cookies/browsing data from your default web browser, disabling any web browser extensions (EG: ad-blocker), switching to private/incognito mode, switching to Microsoft Edge and trying again. You may also try using a smartphone running on a mobile data connection (WiFi disabled). We also suggest resetting the connection (router/modem) you are using to connect to the Internet before trying again. When attempting the action multiple times, please make sure you are logging out of the account after each attempt. If the issue persists, if available many have had success trying again using the PlayStation Internet browser.

Thank you once again for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums!
