One of the watchtower spires in the Black Shroud run by Gridania (designed for observation for Ixali balloon incursions into the forest, and also Garlean airships), is named 'Dunstan's Spire' (specifically the one watching over the Matron's Lethe in the Central Shroud). This is almost certainly named after a former commander of the Wood Wailers before the Calamity who featured prominantly in 1.0's Gridanian main scenario quests.

Long story short, he was cursed with 'woodsin' and became a 'wildling', a cursed man claimed by the forest's elementals and thus was banished from the city (and from then on was believed to be attacking Gridanian patrols - although an Ascian was probably the more likely culprit), only to be captured by Yda and Papalymo and returned to the city where he ended up cured of his woodsin... and was from then on never mentioned again.

But presumedly he went onto some manner of importance in Gridanian society given that he must have had some prestige to have a watchtower named after him... shennigans involving the elementals not withstanding.

    Let's see...

The Ragnarok Z relic line from ARR which is the upgraded version of the Bravura which references both of the original relic weapons Warrior could wield in FFXI. The quest text even references the fact that the Ragnarok is a great sword in FFXI.

Most of the anima relics from HW start out in a form bearing the name of Empyrean weapons from FFXI, such as the Great Axe starting out with its first finished form being, "Ukonvasara."

This trend continues in all relic lines until the Manderville weapons really (though I've been so put off by XIV these past couple of years that I actually haven't finished one to its current highest progression point). Though some of the weapons from FFXI that were referenced were actually just various strong weapons from different endgame eras in FFXI's history.

The Goblin Bounty Hunter/mercenary, Lamebrix Strikebocks from the last raid series in the Alexander raids shows up again in a Eureka Fate in Eureka Pyros. Why and how did he get there? The world may never know!

"I thought that my invincible power would hold the world captive, leaving me in a freedom undisturbed. Thus night and day I worked at the chain with huge fires and cruel hard strokes. When at last the work was done and the links were complete and unbreakable, I found that it held me in its grip." - Rabindranath Tagore
