I've read your posts. I still think it's weird to let a 9 year old play this game (or any mmo), regardless of the intention or background.

And why is it weird? What's so different about an MMO -played solo- compared to say, Skyrim? or Subnautica? or online Minecraft or Fortnite?
My point is not argument, just curiosity- why would person A, who has no idea how old person B is and will never meet person B, care how old they are?

Regardless of whether you can play it solo, there is possible interaction with people around the world. It's not suitable for a 9 year old to play. So yea, to me, this is a weird thing to do. If she wanted to play with you and you figured it was a good exercise for reading/patience, why didn't you pick any solo offline game?

I mean, the same thing can be said about Minecraft, if played online.Regardless of whether you can play it solo, there is possible interaction with people around the world. There was/is no why to why FFXIV. She knows my wife and I play it; she's seen us play it and asked specifically to play it.
I didn't pick anything. I just hoped to utilize her interest constructively.

Good to know! Thank you for the correction.
I saw a blanket statement that said some countries like Australia Germany etc were 12ish; I wanna say UK also upped it from HW or SB, but can’t be sure.
Regardless, we can’t really take the Pegi score or ESRB at face value.
I mean, Fortnite is Pegi 12, but also has official merchandise marketed to 10 year olds.
Or here in Japan has the Demon Slayer anime (with decapitation/dismemberment) also selling toys and Halloween costumes for preschool kids.
Point being, I accept my kid isn’t the target audience, but I don’t think it unusual -or weird- for a small kid to consume media beyond what is intended for them.
Doubly so if the media is going out of its way to market itself toward them.
