    Internet or SE?

    Ever since the end of May, after 2 years not having this issue, I've been constantly getting 90002 errors 4-5 times a day and it's making the game unplayable as that number is increasing. I have Spectrum internet and have friends who have had this issue for years but only once a day at most. It's interrupting everything I do since getting in dungeons and such I am now a liability as I'm dropped multiple times a day.
    For a short while running as Admin did stop this issue but it now back and worse than it was before. Does anyone know why this could be happening? Because my internet doesn't disconnect when this happens so I am not sure if this is a Spectrum issue or a FFXIV issue.
    Any help or feedback will be greatly appreciated

    It's a little bit of both. It has been a recurring scenario for a long, long time now. It's not usually one's own ISP, but nodes along the internet "highway" act up every now and then. SE could contact them for a fix, but they haven't, so...here we are.

    do a traceroute to the servers. odds are you're getting dropped somewhere along the line, most like at an NTT node.

    you may need to use a VPN to remedy your issue.

    A quick search and this is what I pulled up.

    "It has been reported that some antivirus programs could also lead to FFXIV 90002 error, especially Avast. To fix the error, you might need to disable your third-party antivirus and firewall software temporarily. If the error still exists, you should try uninstalling the software."

    So if any antiviral programs you may want to put them on pause for a moment when firing up FFXIV. If still having issues you might just need to uninstall and then reinstall. I doesn't take too much time to reinstall. Most the time it's patches but you should be up to date in that if you have logged in at least within a week.

    I do know I haven't changed a thing on my computer since like last August so maybe I d just need to reinstall. I hope it fixes the issue, I don't want to be experiencing this when the next patch and then expansion come out, ruin so many cutscenes lol

    I'm not entirely sure what any of this means beyond VPN lol I know I opened up a bunch of nodes from an old post I found back when this started but it didn't fix anything unfortunately.

    It's happening to a lot of people because of a political dispute NTT is involved in and there are NDAs so they can't discuss it. They did try to ease it up as much as they can, but it has been ongoing for months now. There is a 120 page thread in the Technical Support forum.

    So SE can contact them and usually does in these situations, but it seems this is different because they are pushing SE away and keeping focus on their dispute.

    I agree about the VPN suggestion. It's a common way to get around the issue.

    I've found reinstalling did nothing but apparently this only happens to me on Aether which sucks because my house is there. I've been playing on Primal the last 2 days and it hasn't happened once. I switch back over and it happens within 10 minutes

    Sounds very similar to an issue I was having in January. Here's the two things I can recommend you doing:

    - Load any other always-online game at the same time and see if it's just XIV or both games. If it's both, it's probably your ISP
    - While my ISP fixed their crap when I was having my issues, using Mudfish VPN was a savior for me. You can set it up only for XIV and it's prepaid, so buying as little as $3 can last you months, depending on use, because it's just filtering XIV and avoiding congested nodes.

    So this can affect just certain data centers? Cause I'm fine on Primal lol
