I think, if you only started playing up to or after Endwalker launch, you might not be the target audience for the video or this topic discussion. The game is good. Great, in fact, there are thousands and thousands of hours of content to keep you occupied.

I'm pretty sure Zepla's video is expressing the thoughts and opinions specifically of someone who's been playing the game for several years. When you've done all the older content, you want to keep occupied with the new stuff; and unfortunately, Endwalker just doesn't deliver as well as previous expansions. It's not bad, it's just not good either.

Zepla even said this in her second video reading the comments. There were lots of comments from new players saying this, and she basically said (paraphrase): That's good and I'm genuinely super happy for you. FFXIV is a great game, I absolutely encourage people to play it. I just wish it had more at the top end.

I think part of the problem was her naming the video "worst expansion" and her tone in the first video really, unfortunately, muddying the waters from her point. Her second video kind of redeems a lot of it, but people who want everyone to hate on the game kind of missed that.

I started playing the game shortly after Endwalker's launch - in fact, I started right before the now (in)famous influx of WoW players occurred and was barely able to play at first as was on Free Trial status which, nine times out of ten, meant that I didn't even get to queue. I didn't manage to subscribe until they reopened the servers to doing so in the early months of the 2022.

So yeah, whilst I can see the points being made regarding Endwalker here, and think that it was a mixed-blessing myself, I guess I'm not at the 'burn out' point that longer-term players appear to have reached.

Game is still good. They are trying something different this expansion. That doesnt make the game necessarily bad. Just means the things they tried did not stick which in results causing a slight loss in player retention

Yep, while you still have things to catch up on, the game is great. But once you are caught up and waiting for patches, it kinda sucks.

But the name of her video isn't "Endwalker is the Worst FFXIV Expansion." It's "Endwalker is the Worst FFXIV Expansion I have played." Right from the beginning, she's very clear that her video is about her perspective and her opinion. And to my knowledge, the majority of her video is very 'criticism sandwich' where she points out the good and the bad. Using words like "worst expansion" should not muddy the water when its very transparent about being an opinion piece even from the title.
