Zepla: Endwalker is the Worst FFXIV Expansion I have played

Content creators, especially ones with huge subscriber bases can really get the developers attention. How much can you or I get? Not much I wager, but they are influential enough to get one on one interviews with Yoshi AND Yoshi is on record as watching her streams.

The message will be received, what happens next thought is another matter.

Based on the first few posts, there are two sides in this:

And people who dont support and/or dont watch Zapdos

Me, I dont really care about Zangarmarsh vids. Theyre too dramatic. However I agree that generally EW is boring. I extended my sub, played for 2 days and couldnt be bothered to login after that. Bad decision. Waste of money.

To be honest, it shouldnt really matter where the criticism comes from, nor should be the deterred for what the discussion actually is. Zepla's video brings up a lot of good points and many of these are criticisms that have been shared by other members of the forum community.

Honestly the general crux of the rant is that current FFXIV isnt trying at all to want you to play it which is true. Its getting to that other extreme where the lack of engagement and or social aspect of content is going to be more and more detrimental to the state of the game.

Whats frustrating is how Yoshida and the dev team either if they're being seriously held back by SE's budget on the game (despite comments of them saying they'll pay no expense) or just them being out of touch or sitting in their laurels a bit too much, are just not pumping more activities or flair into these patches and playing it waaaay too easy and safe. Granted the new content ideas like IS and Variant are what we need but their current implementation is being very lackluster and people dont want to sit and wait for that content to finally be substantial enough to be engaging.

Another point I have is that the dev team have been working very hard in-between the content of HW-Shb with how they managed to implement more content in post-expansion patches (with Stormblood being the most work they've ever done I believe) compared to EW's so it could be they're taking such a big break from having to churn out content with Endwalker but unfortunately thats not something that should be done in the MMO business. Not saying they should be crunching 24/7, but with the budget and leadership they have, the team should be managed better to produce more content while also keeping their health and workload relatively good on their end.

This is all just speculation.

It's sensible to care about this video in a more abstract sense, even if you don't care for or about her message. Think of Zepla like a politician; While you may not agree with or care for her message, the simple fact that other people do can have an impact on your experience.

People are just trying to be edgy by using "lol who ?" "isnt that the one who begged for money" "why should i listen ?" just to try and be cool because "loool bullying streamers is funny"

The people who don’t like content creators (YouTube, twitch, etc) are very vocal and very passionate about not liking them I’ve noticed.

It really speaks to how few arguments people who support the level of content the game has right now that they have to basically just “stream bully” a streamer who is raising totally valid points even if I don’t agree with all of them

Pro tip to GCBTW, people are more likely to be swayed by your opinion if you attempt to refute the arguments, not just go “lol who, nobody asked”

Back before the Shadowbringers influx, there was a streamer named Scottzone. WoW refugee, played through the whole game, had a community, fun times happened all around there, from what I was told. Eventually, he reaches endgame, which was the first tier of Eden, if I recall correctly. Completed the tier, and had some feedback that he would love to see more fights in a raid tier.

Because of this one complaint, he was ostracized, harassed, doxxed, and eventually due to a emotional response, had to permanently step away.

The fact that Zepla of all people, someone who has been the Media Tours and interviewed Yoshi-P himself multiple times is willing to say that the expansion is bad is not reflective of her opinion being "worth more" than other people, but rather gives people an ACTUAL platform with size and potential influence to voice discontent.

"But they can just use the forums! The forums are just negative all the time anyway!"

The thing about that is that the common clapback is that the forums are a vocal minority, which is true, but a good reason that is is because people who are not subscribed to XIV CANNOT POST HERE. So there is no way for feedback like that to be submitted without essentially announcing your departure. Which then comes the "bye felicia" and "can i have your stuff" posts, instead of anything constructive.

Zepla making a video in the open like this can prompt greater discussion and willingness from people who might not have said anything about their issues with this expansion. She has a platform of thousands, and that inherently gives credence and exposure than even the most well constructed forum post.

What happened to Scottzone was wildly disappointing as someone tried very hard to doxx and scare him into submission over some very lukewarm takes. I started very late stormblood and it was a very eye opening experience into the whole “GCBTW” meme

Maybe it’s a hot take but I think the poster further back basically making claims about Zepla “losing it” or being aggressive or whatever other weird online diagnoses they stated is actually really low and disgusting, it really showcases what this community truly has become when you even raise the slightest criticism of the game….and there is a lot to criticize these days.

I also find it weird that people are saying she was attacking the fanbase or being aggressive over criticisms and shows some people treat any criticisms on the game as a personal attack or feel attacked in some way because they didn't like her "tone" or "theatrical hand movements". I guess zepla isn't allowed to criticize the game and continue to be her usual overly happy self. Its also sad some content creators that came from wow and other games and gave valid criticisms as simple as wanting more then 4 raids in a raid tier gets doxxed and there personal irl info getting leaked and harassed out of the community.
