In ways that don't even hold up to any scrutiny: The Encyclopedias and Sil'dih variant dungeon came after Hildibrand's story about Sil'dih and the Trader's Spurn, and the Encyclopedias don't really talk about Sil'dih beyond passing mentions. The Qarn dungeons provide even less... because if you actually checked their descriptions, you'd realized that Qarn's not Sil'dihn, it's Belah'diahn. That's why the scales puzzle in the Subterrane works differently than the Qarn one, because you're recreating a different crest. Hildibrand was genuinely the only Sil'dih story until Endwalker.

It's fine if you're not interested in the parts of the lore that it talks about, nobody would begrudge you for not being interested in everything; I know both Shadowbringers and Endwalker have entire zones I'd readily skip in terms of both up-front story and worldbuilding. But to claim it's doing none of it is ridiculous, because Hildibrand is one of the most reliable heavy-hitters in terms of 'down-to-earth' lore. You put forward the Scholasticate as the chad meme to Hildibrand's virgin in terms of worldbuilding, but in truth they do the exact same thing: using the context of a detective story to take a really grounded angle that other stories struggle to. Using a story about helping individuals and solving mysteries, with very little combat, to shine lights on parts of the game's world that most stories can't. Despite both being Hingan political stories, Stormblood Hildibrand could go places that Samurai's job story couldn't, letting Hildibrand actually serve important worldbuilding purpose.
I did not say it was doing none of it ? I just said my opinion is that the lore introduced in Hildibrand is boring, like who cares about PuPu ?

And thank you for correcting me about Qarn, but my main point is still the same, Hildibrand's lore is very boring, and some of the lore like zombies and PuPus actually make the entire worldbuilding worse and make it like a joke.

I don't think Hildibrand is particularly funny anymore, I think it was in the beginning but it got a little worn out.
Regardless, I think the story itself is pretty neat and it definitely does have significant connections to MSQ like Cleretic said and it's also a nice change of pace from the other important side quests so overall I enjoy it.
The current Hildibrand story looks like it might be the most significant to the main story yet, so I'm excited to see where it goes.

Each to there own, but I for one love the quests and characters. Its a nice break from the more serious tone of the MSQ and world. I think its addds some nice lore elements to the world too, such as the HW stuff and the latest quests seem to be really fleshing out some things nicely.

Jalzahn is mentioned by people in the High Crucible I believe.
Ardashir, you can go to his house and talk to his sister.
Little localization error there, cause his house says "House Barik" instead of "Balyk".

I don't like Hildibrand, either. This kind of humour just isn't for me whatsoever. I found some of the stuff genuinly uncomfortable (the oiling and massaging, Nashu's stalker being played for laughs) and the rest of it incredibly cringy. I suffered through it to unlock the EW relics and it took me way too long even with skipping all the cutscenes. I really wish the EW relic storyline were at least a bit more serious but nope, it's Godbert's sweat being a secret ingredient. Thanks, Squeenix, I hate it.

An example of a comedy sidequest I thoroughly enjoyed would be Revolting Refreshments in ShB.

While you probably weren't asking me, personally, I think that the namazu and dwarves are good comedy. Neither is exactly a gutbuster, but they're fun. There's other comedy I find funny outside of the game, but I'm sticking to that because I can basically guarantee people have played it.

Part of a struggle with Hildibrand is absolutely the cultural thing; it's a very Japanese style of comedy. Most of that translates very well because it's physical comedy and 'man fall down' is basically universal, but a good chunk of it also comes out the other end... not working. Sometimes painfully (the lalafel stalker probably worst of all), and I think some amount of it also in a way where it just doesn't even seem like there was a joke in the first place. That's not a knock on the localization team, comedy is just very subjective and cultural; it's one of the hardest things to translate. (and now I kinda wish I asked about that for the lore and translation panel!)

And while I can appreciate physical comedy like Hildibrand in live-action, to me it loses a fundamental something when it enters animation. In live-action it's fundamentally stuntwork, and a lot of the appeal comes from that, that a human being is visibly going through all of this. Animation just doesn't have that, and Hildibrand doesn't shore up the gap in any meaningful way for me to remain funny.

...However, it remains interesting because of, as I said, its ability to explore corners of the world and lore other parts of the game struggle to.

They DID, you just didn't notice.

Greg summoned an Eikon from crystals that DIDN"T temper anybody or make a hole in the world and suck in aether uncontrollably. This is a MAJOR plot point dismissed as a joke.
