Impulse Drive combo problem

Maybe i have missed something but i cant get any combo from Impulse Drive?
For what i can understand you must hit from left or right side then it will trigger either "Ring of tales" or "Chaos Thrust".
I tried several time and succesfulled hit either right or left side of mob with Impulse drive but no combo triggered.
Someone know why?

Did you land Vorpal Thrust first? Also, there's a good chance you didn't actually hit the proper position (sometimes mobs have a larger hit box for certain sides, like Ifrit's side could still trigger a back attack) or you simply missed. Make sure you're hitting the appropriate side before WSing since they designed the server/attacks to be out of sync purposefully, so give yourself a second or two when switching sides then WS.

I also tried as you mentioned vorpal thrust first and it triggered Impulse drive. After impulse drive from right side nothing.
And from what i understand you dont have to use Vorpal Thrust first then impulsedrive to trigger ring of tales or chaos thrust. Both text under chaos thrust and ring of tales says combo action impulse drive.
Maybe a bug?

You have to start every combo chain from the beginning, so Vorpal Thrust is definitely needed here. Impulse Drive should proc Chaos Thrust if you comboed into it with VT and it landed from a flank.

Check your chat log, it will tell if you do hit from the left or right. There is a slight delay in term of animation and how the server perceive the location/direction.

BTW vorpal thrust has to be executed from behind the mob, if not it would not trigger the combo.

I'm pretty sure they actually increased the accuracy of impulse drive and vorpal thrust.

1. Use Vorpal Thrust while standing behind an enemy.
2. Use Impulse Drive while standing at on the side of an enemy.

If it isn't working, you're either missing one of them, or you're going too fast. Remember, there is positional lag in everything you do. Even though on your screen it appears you've moved to the side, the server still thinks you haven't finished moving yet. Move to the side, give the game a second to catch up, then use Impulse Drive. One sure fire way to make sure the game has gotten the memo re: your current positioning is to let an auto-attack go off before you try to use your WS, just to make sure the battle log says "Your attack hits so-and-so from the right (or left) for..."
