Expansion waiting room brainrot going full tilt

These days I pretty much only log in to refresh my house and to admire my character. That's about it. I wish there was more "Game" to be had but alas.Once people unsubscribe or forget about FFXIV, the world-famous social interaction dies too. Yeah, that's right. People stop logging in even for cybersex. And why would they? FFXIV isn't necessary anymore. Just use Discord. And, in case I'm wrong: what kind of game is this when the player base only logs in once a week or so to show up in a "club", AFK, then log out? Is that what the world's best MMO and "WoW-killer" was meant to be?
While a TON of people love FFXIV because they don't have to play it, there's a very small subsection of people (me included) who like playing FFXIV because it's a video game, not a social media platform for playing other games. Perhaps we're dying off?

Man, what a brilliant game BG3 is. I'm about to kill the final boss, let's goooo.Reclearing Savage today, all I heard was BG3 BG3 BG3. The few times we actually talked about FF14 it was saying how people wanted to get the reclear over with as fast as possible so they can go back to BG3. The Discord servers I'm in also just talks about BG3 and AC6 now.
People are allowed to play more than one game.
don't care about Denuvo its a fun game with friends but i understand not getting it. I just hope stealth is gonna be a better game but i honestly think Payday 3 will live only until GTFO developer come out with their Heist game to challenge since the people who made GTFO were 2 of the lead developers of Payday 2.

Yep and yep.
But, many of the other posters are correct in their assertions that the dev team is releasing less engaging content while the significant patch cycles are getting longer. FFXIV appears to be in low maintenance mode. This is a shame because, as a casual player, I really like the MMO. The attitude S.E. is taking, that we could always play other games, strikes me as complacent and a little arrogant. It's shooting them in the foot.

I have never been less impressed by post launch content than I have with EW. So yeah, I agree.Yep and yep.

well to be fair...Post EW launch you did have your lead developer and some of his team working on another game. S.E. only weird decision to me is FFXIV has been their bread and butter bringing in the cash despite many...and i mean MANY failures of other titles yet Yoshi-P has stated he can't get a budget increase from S.E. to implement more stuff he would like in this game. They would rather invest that money into flops like Forspoken than the game actually making them money.

FF 16 is great, to be fair, or at least it is to me. But it came at a pretty significant cost as far as FF XIV is concerned. SE's priorities are all over the place nowadays.well to be fair...Post EW launch you did have your lead developer and some of his team working on another game.
