Imagine thinking there should be more content added more often = people asking for daily new contentI would never expect an MMO to take 100% of my leisure time. In recent times, I pop on the game to do what I need to do weekly, then I played Tears of the Kingdom or FFXVI and eventually BG3. I don't see anything wrong with that. The expectation that I should be entertained with fresh content every time I sit down to play a game that is 10 years old is a bit ridiculous.
talk about exaggerating just to invalidate people's complaints
I have put 40 hours into AC6....I have still logged in to do weeklies and do some grinding for the moogle tome event...I've actively left content to do to give the drought more stuff for me to engage with. I have played some of BG3.....its not even a month old yet of course people who are enjoying it will want to dive right back in...its not to go against anything in 14 or any other game one would be playing. It doesn't reflect on quality etc its just the new shiny thing and people will purge through it and fall back into their habits, its the natural thing....the other thing is say if 14 had more to do for players then people would still have to pick one or the other and if they still chose BG3 in this instance it doesn't change the outcome. Also you made one good post and are now back to the baldur gate 3 posts like your last alt posted before it was taken down and were banned lol....sigh
Also to some degree content can be made to be consumed long term but it tends to be time gated and tedious....it doesn't matter how much content gets made the people who wants to play every day will burn through it and then be back on here saying there isn't anything to do...not saying there's enough currently no there should be more but no live service game will ever keep up with the community in that regard...unless designing content I said above.
I for one am very much looking foward to BG3 when it comes to PS5. Gonna be a Half-Orc, not sure what class she will be yet. Most importantly.... think I will romance Karlach. She is adorable!
Garfield per-release in few hours

Tbh I find it weird that the ‘make ffxiv defined by being a game you can easily not-play’ actually worked lol. Then again, I guess it does make sense relative to MMOs, so what’s more surprising is that other games aren’t taking the exact same approach (not that I would really know if they did lol)

i didn't read every post but the summary arguement against this is, people have hated the weekly chore of tome grinding and weekly raids since twintania so its this type of get off and do something else quickly has always been a thing.
once people feel the only reason to hop on is to do their daily/weekly chores for this game or even any other they will start to resent having to do it.
Yep! I'm just going to quote myself on the subject, since I've spoken up many times on the issue:
As has been pointed out many times already, a lot of players with concerns about FFXIV are playing other games and aren't looking to be entertained by one specific game 24/7.
They're simply recognising that less and less content is being designed with staying power in mind and that even after taking breaks they're returning to see that elements of the game they enjoy are being taken away for the sake of those who do little but idle in cities and player houses whilst heavily altering the game and their character to be utterly unrecognisable as 'FFXIV.'
I've yet to see where people are actually asking for content to keep them entertained 24/7. Many people are already taking breaks and playing other games only to come back to FFXIV and find that it isn't adding anything with much in the way of staying power.
It isn't rocket science and it's honestly disappointing to see people deceptively try to frame the concerns and criticism as something entirely different to what it is.
The game has tipped too far in the direction of appeasing those who don't even play the game but instead idle and attend 'venues'. Given that such an approach comes at the expense of content with staying power such as Bozja, Eureka and Ishgard Reconstruction it isn't difficult to see why concerns are being raised.
People can like more than one thing. Sometimes, they can even like one thing a bit more over the other, but they still like both things. Some people, though some black magic, no doubt, can like multiple things. at the same time.
The idea that a person should only play and like one game forever, until they die, over every other game and never try anything new is just silly and maybe a bit deranged.
